• Google TV 'Big Announcement' Coming Monday
Google is throwing down the gauntlet: According to a post on the official Facebook page for Google TV, some "big announcements" are in the works for Monday. And that's it – no other teases, or potential product shots, or any ol' hints as to what Google might have in store. Our guess? There's a good chance Google could officially pull the curtain off of "Project Tungsten," a media streaming hardware device, branded by Google itself, which could give competitors like Sonos a bit of a pause. If it is finally time for the device that was shown off at the Google I/O conference last year to see the light of day, it'll be an Android-powered piece of hardware that should (ideally) integrate well with Android tablets and smartphones and serve as a hub for Google's "Android at Home" framework. What does that mean? Using Google's example, a user would control a "Tungsten" device using his or her Android smartphone or tablet. The hub would connect up to your existing home entertainment system or speakers, and you'd be able to route music its way via touch controls in a Google Music app. It remains to be seen whether some of Google's fancier features will make it into Tungsten – if that's even on tap for tomorrow anyway, we note. At Google I/O last year, company representatives showed off a supplemental "hub" device that processed the near field communication tags found in CD cases (for those who still purchase physical copies of music). Tapping the CD case against the device once loaded the tunes into your Google Music library, and tapping the case a second time started playing the CD's first track. Furthering the Tungsten rumors, the company recently asked the Federal Communications Commission permission to test an unnamed "entertainment device" that would act as an intermediary between a user's wireless network and Bluetooth devices. Google didn't get into any additional details as to what the mysterious devices does, just that it would serve as a "hub" of-sorts within the home environment. Of course, Google also announced new hardware partners for Google TV at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, so perhaps Monday's announcement relates to products in the works by Vizio, Samsung, or LG. After all, CEO Eric Schmidt said at the time that a "majority" of televisions would have Google TV integrated by the summer of this year. Is it time to get crackin' on that one? On a final note, why is Google using Facebook of all places to make product teases? It sure is telling when the Google TV page on Google Plus is noticeably silent…
SOURCE: PCMAG I love Google.

Google TV has such promise, really hope it takes off properly Apple are bound to enter the market at some point and Google need to get this shit off the ground before that happens
I hope that the actual apple tv has no right angles.

The Google data kraken; now coming to a TV near you.
Google's starting to hurt my wallet, first my phone, then a tablet, now I'll have to get this. Hopefully it's cheap like the Logitech Revue ($99)
Engadget reports that the big announcement is actually just a new YouTube app but I sense bullshit, that announcement isn't even dated Monday
Update: In a Sunday night blog post, Google announced an update to the Google TV YouTube experience, "making it faster and easier to find great content, adding YouTube channel pages, and giving you more control over your experience." :frown:
Even if that is what they meant, the FB post says "big announcements" plural
I heard GoogleTV is lackluster, they better be serious this time, or Apple is gonna come up and crush them so hard it will be unbelievable. Just look at tablets, the only non-iOS tablet of any significance was the Kindle Fire, and that only hurt iPad sales for like two months...
