I have a question about amplifiers

Alright so I'm somewhat new to home audio, here's my situation:

I purchased a (stereo) amp to drive 2 floor standing speakers, these speakers are rated 20 - 275 watts at 8 ohms.

Now, my amp says it can do:

2 x 100 watts per channel RMS into 8 ohm
2 x 125 wpc into 6 ohms

dynamic power handling: 2 x 140 watts into 8 ohms, 2 x 125 watts into 6 ohms

Does it automatically recognize the speaker's needs or do I need to do something that isn't mentioned in the manual.

Basically I need my hand held here.
