Left side of laptop screen just started slightly flickering like a fluorescent light, what do I do

I don't think I can change the bulb on this thing

It stops if I unplug the AC adapter but I don't really see anything wrong with this thing
Must be a problem with the AC adapter
The fact that you said "replace the bulb" tells me you need to take it to a professional.
LCD screens actually use a small version of these as a backlight

I was being sarcastic for that bit, but shit's gone south since the little high-frequency flickering I'd experienced a few days ago...
Now the flickering stopped but I think it killed something in the display because the blacklight completely cuts out in around two seconds at full brightness and around 10 seconds to two minutes at half brightness, did my capacitors in my display die or something? The amount of time I can use the display at lower and lower brightnesses without blacking out is diminishing, too.
