EA’s like-it-or-lump-it Origin service has divided gamers who either like it, or lump it. Recognising the lumpers, EA have put up a blog entry called, “Continuing the Origin Conversation”, or, “Please tell us what we’re doing wrong.” The post somewhat foolhardily invites users to comment on their favourite Origin feature, as well as features they’d like to see added in the future. The post has already attracted over 300 comments, from, “I would like a clock on the overlay so I can check the time easier while playing” to “Please add a feature to purchase and play EA games through Steam.” A live question-and-answer follow-up with Origin’s head honches Robert Kissinger and Mike Lewis will take place on Tuesday. Valve co-founder Gabe Newell has previously voiced concerns about Origin, saying, “I don’t think they’re doing anything super well yet,” but going on to say that they’re “recognising what the challenges are” and “playing catch up.” He also reiterated that Valve is keen to have EA games back on their Steam digital distribution service. Origin has attracted a lot of flak since its launch last year, but it does seem that EA are trying to improve the service. They’re also keenly interested in PC gaming, as evidenced by their Indie Bundle. But is their heart in the right place?
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/03/ea-invite-gamers-to-give-feedback-on-origin/ Just imagine being the guy who has to read it :v:
I don't like Origin.
I'd rather give feedback on EA itself. Not that they would listen.
I don't like Origin.
I don't mind Origin, I just dislike Battlelog.
There will be lumps
The question is what are they doing right.
The only thing I like about Origin is the logo and name.
Main problem with Origin is that it isn't Steam.
One thing I like with Origin is that I can connect to offline-mode easy, unlike steam where it just say I have to connect to the internet to access offline-mode.
Not trying to defend Origin or EA here but seriously? You think a monopoly is a good thing? Competition is why Valve is able to offer you such nice deals. You think those will stick around if Steam is the only DD service?
Jokes, jokes. I know competition rewards us players by forcing Valve to keep up the good work etc, but EA doesn't exactly seem to put a lot of heart into the competition themselves. The games have always been and are still expensive as shit and nothing noteworthy has been added to the platform for a long time. They're currently overcharging as hell for The Witcher 2, presumably hoping to ring in some extra coin off the recent FREE expansion of the game. For the record, Valve were treating the players well long before Origin even came out. Anyway Origin has a much sleeker and more responsive interface (doesn't take several seconds to load the Store page like on Steam).

I don't see VALVe taking advantage of their monopolization, the same as Google. As long as its not abused and they continue with their business sense, I see no problem with it.
Not using Origin, but I heard it's got better Offline Mode than Steam, overall more buggy than Steam and is only really being used because of exclusive titles, not because it's the better alternative or real competition (because how do you compete with Origin on ME3 sales when you can't sell it?). Steam is also said to have better interfacing via Workshop, has Steam Guard and the better sales. Did I get anything wrong? Something notable to add to either side? Is Origin lighter on the RAM than Steam or something? Any extra features Steam is lacking? Anything more polished/refined than on Steam? I mean they were able to study its progress over years, surely they exceed in some other way than exclusive titles.
PR, EA doesn't give a fuck what their costumers think.

Oh boy here comes a bias shitstorm.
EA scares me :(
Oh boy here comes a bias shitstorm.
Ah yes, supporting an obviously superior service is bias
..My opinion on Origin: If a game uses it that game will never earn a cent of my money, and I will never play it.
I love your new feature origin after i bought Battlefield 2142 through Ea download manager and you forced 2142 on my origin account i love you EA heh.
This is probably just to give us a fake idea that they care, while they'll probably not read any of the feedback, maybe not even receiving it.
No, they're not.
Steam has an estimated 70% market share, that's called a monopoly. It matters not how many services there are if there's one that has 3/4th of the market share.
"Here is 25% minus discount to The Sims 3 Katy Perry Expansion Packet." "No wait my issue is that I can't download my game, it has nothing to do with The Sims or Katy Perry" "Sorry for inconveneince Have good Day"
So uhh..can I have that coupon?
Steam has an estimated 70% market share, that's called a monopoly. It matters not how many services there are if there's one that has 3/4th of the market share.
It's not steam's fault it's so good. No really.
Took Steam 6 years to add an overlay clock, don't get too hopeful
Took Steam 6 years to add an overlay clock, don't get too hopeful
I'm in it for the sweet deals!
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/monopoly Sorry, but they are not a monopoly. Not yet at least. If they were then none of those services I posted would exist.
Definitions by a dictionary and by law are different.
I don't like EA, I don't mind Origin. Origin hasn't and never will stop me from purchasing a game I like that's published by EA. In my opinion refusing to buy a game you would otherwise buy simply because of the client you use to download it is a bit silly. I use Steam, Origin, and Desura. It's a bit inconvenient having 3 different clients but Steam is the only one I use on a regular basis so it's not bad. It just means a few extra clicks when I want to play one of the games that aren't on steam.
Where to fucking start? - Adding friends is needlessly complicated, amongst others due to not having the option of "people playing on your server" - Extremely barebones platform with virtually no profile customisation - and the profile you have is a fucking joke - No skins possible as far as I'm aware - Extremely limited offer in games - Support is a fucking joke - Layout is unintuitive - No seperate friends list outside of the ingame overlay - Overlay doesn't respond to Mouse/Keyboard input half the damn time - Origin servers having issues causes ingame lag despite the host/game/players itself not being laggy
Pros Looks nice. Cons Barely works. EA support is beyond awful. Nowhere near as good value as Steam. Isn't Steam.
