• I Schooled my English Teacher (GET IT IT'S A PUN)

So, in English class, we're reading a book called Farenheit 451. For those of you that have never heard of it, the main thing that's going on in the book is that firemen have been reassigned to burning all the books in every city instead of what they normally do. After the first 5 chapters, the teacher asked the class what he thought the whole underlying tone of this was meant to be. I raised my hand and told him that I thought the book was about modern technology making people think books in general are worthless, so the government is taking steps to destroy them to get rid of the 'outdated technology'. He told me that I was wrong, and that the book was about the government restricting free thought. Now, normally whenever somebody in an english class doesn't interpret things the way the lesson is thought to be, the teacher is supposed to be understanding with this and explain calmly. But my teacher flat out told me I was wrong. This pissed me the fuck off, and triggered something in my head that made me want to prove him wrong, even if I made a fool of myself. I tore through the book using most of my free time, and found out that throughout the rest of the book, people are generally being pleasant and the government hasn't turned into an overly restrictive dictatorship. Even after I pointed this out, my teacher told me that I shouldn't have read that far yet, and to stop spoiling the book for everybody else. Then I found this - http://www.laweekly.com/2007-05-31/news/ray-bradbury-fahrenheit-451-misinterpreted/ I showed this to him in front of the class, and he just stared at me. Then I pointed out that this book was a terrible choice to use alongside the political worksheets he had been giving us to fill out, since the book didn't properly illustrate the concept of freedom being taken away. Now, whenever he hands out a sheet that's part of the curriculam (and therefore he can't not hand out), I smile a little bit at the fact that he hasn't technically given us anything to work off of. Bouns points will be awarded when you show this to his boss. How did he react?
I approve :golfclap:
Making teachers look stupid is always win.
They had this on cracked I think.
Reminds me of that one movie where the government has special teams that destroy history and stuff. I can't remember the name of it though.
should have just just punched him in the dick for telling you that your opinion was wrong.

Good on ya, mate. This is how a proper one of these threads should look, not "So my friend said this so I said this and we all laughed it was hilarious" like the rest of them.
