"I am so proud to wear the uniform because it proves I am a student and that I am living my life and learning." Malala is in year nine and will start her GCSE curriculum next year. She said she was looking forward to learning about politics and law.
Video in the article
Fantastic news. This is what we call a massive middle finger to those who would deny women their basic rights. Good on you, Malala.
She's kinda cute. Go! Learn! Enjoy your newfound freedom of knowledge!
Shame this basically means she can never set foot in a middle eastern country ever again without running the risk of being hunted down by terrorists, especially in Pakistan.
One has to wonder, would she even want to go back?
It's her home. I'd say she'd want to go back, despite the bad memories she'll have of the place.
I kind of wonder if we're seeing the next massive iconic campaigner, i.e. she may well end up going down in history alongside people like Gandhi and Martin Luther King

She's quite the brave person, I hope she goes far in life.
is a headscarf part of the school uniform?
is a headscarf part of the school uniform?
No, it's not - but I would be interested to know her views on wearing a head scarf/a woman covering up, considering her views on women's rights and right to education.
I kind of wonder if we're seeing the next massive iconic campaigner, i.e. she may well end up going down in history alongside people like Gandhi and Martin Luther King
I think so. At this point she has become a bit of a symbol, its obvious that she is extremely determined about this so I think she will either wind up dead or going down in history (Though I guess even if she dies she will go down; and be martyred) I think its great that she has been given refuge by the UK and is getting to go to school and encouraged to keep up her protests. Also the school she is going to is within walking distance of my flat, nice to hear about cool stuff happening in the area.
No, it's not - but I would be interested to know her views on wearing a head scarf/a woman covering up, considering her views on women's rights and right to education.
I dont think the headscarf is a form/symbol of oppression as much as it is just part of their culture.

Uniform rules state "Hijabs should be plain navy blue or black."
I think it looks nice regardless, some girls can really pull off that look.
I think it looks nice regardless, some girls can really pull off that look.
she's 15
she's 15
Considering the article stated she was starting grade 9, this is already known. You saying I can't compliment someone because they're younger than I am?
I think it looks nice regardless, some girls can really pull off that look.
fucking creep
Saw a the clip on the news earlier and she seemed so enthusiastic and happy, it's great to see :)
fucking creep
Wiat, what?? Literally all I said was it looked nice on her. If I had said, like, "10/10 would bone" or something, then yeah I'd agree thats creepy as fuck. But what the hell is wrong with a compliment?
is it really the first thing you thought when you saw this article though? if i was her and i read your post i'd be freaked out
For someone who was shot in the fucking head she's looking pretty good. You are literally telling me I can't compliment someone because its inappropriate.
is it really the first thing you thought when you saw this article though? if i was her and i read your post i'd be freaked out
you probably don't have to worry about compliments so relax your tiny brain
Good thing you aren't her. i think it was more "considering she was shot in the fucking head, she doesn't look too bad"
For someone who was shot in the fucking head she's looking pretty good. You are literally telling me I can't compliment someone because its inappropriate.
because it's creepy as fuq and if nothing else strange: in an article about the taliban and womens education you honestly thought how she could 'pull off a look' (you mentioned nothing about recovering from the wound, don't backpedal now) was relevant at all
because it's creepy as fuq and if nothing else strange: in an article about the taliban and womens education you honestly thought how she could 'pull off a look' (you mentioned nothing about recovering from the wound, don't backpedal now) was relevant at all
people were discussing the hijab and the school uniform together, he didn't bring it up from fucking nothing jesus

There was nothing sexual about it, I'm not coming on to her, I'm not getting a boner over her, I said the hijab looks nice on her Thats literally all I said. How the fuck is that creepy?

Why yes, I am 20 years old. Point being?

Apparently being 6 years above the average age of Facepunch isn't enough nowadays. Have to be atleast 32 to have an opinion. She seems like she's doing fine, would be a massive middlefinger to all the assholes who hated on her if she would become really succesfull.
