I bought the SteelSeries Siberia V2 gaming headset yesterday and i'm loving it. The virtual 7.1 audio makes me want to cream. The reason I have created this thread is to ask what you fellow Facepunch members think of this headset. Would you recommend it to anyone? If so, why?
I would strongly recommend this headset because of the sound quality alone. Just listening to music alone is a whole new experience. Playing games is a whole new world, hearing every little sound is great. Also if you travel frequently to other countries this headset has a USB soundcard so you don't have to worry about voltages and other hassles.
Sounds cool, but I think this thread would better belong here:

I'm currently wearing a $440 Denon AH-D2000 on my head, connected to a $5,200 Nikko amplifier.
I'm pretty pleased. :colbert:
I use speakers :3
the steel series sibera headband is the worst piece of electronics i have ever used
if i could trade in the piece of shit for a generic headband for a quarter of the price i would do it in a heartbead
it doesn't stay on your head, it's uncomfortable, it's flimsy and the sound quality is laughably awful for a $90 headset
i got the damn thing for free because a friend hated it so much, and i honestly would rather have something i could get morse use out of, such as a headset i can actually use without wearing a neck brace and keeping completely still

Point and laugh at the guy who though anything steelseries would be worth more than the box they come in.
My friend has one and loves it, I tried it on and hated it, the 7.1 sound is a dumb gimmick that doesn't really do anything, and it is uncomfortable, the sound quality seemed pretty mediocre too.

Oh fuck I just realized that this is my friends thread.
You have no idea what good headphones are, try a pair of sennheisers and you will decide to purchase a pair when your gaming ricephones break.
i like the 4H's personally but steelseries' products tend to shit out on you pretty quick in my experience.

Senns are pretty meh, try some grados or audio technicas.
I got the v1 a few weeks before the new one came out. I am still pissed.
What is with this huge recent gaming trend thing about 2 channel headphones? Whatever happened to pure 5.1 surround sound headphones ? The last good pair I remember is the Razer Barracudas and those things have been discontinued.
I have the steelseries V2 on me rigth now...But i wish i could turn it in for something that has clearer sound. So guys Bose or Sennheisers?

I don't see why people wear headsets anyways, unless you're required it for your profession, it just makes you look like a twit...

Because some of us prefer to not be the twit by blasting whatever we happen to be listening to through our speakers/walls/house.

They're gaming headsets, you jackass. I won't bother actually addressing the U LOOK LIKE A TWIT part due to how even more fucking retarded that sounds. :colbert:
tl;dr some of us like quality audio.
Eh
5vh2's better.

Got these myself, they only broke down cause I drove over it with my chair like three times. Their customer service is awesome though, I got a new one coming my way again.

They're actually just okay, you're probably saying they're good without listening to anything to compare them to.
I had some Siberia V1s ages ago. They're quite comfortable and the sound quality is serviceable, but dear fucking god are they fragile. Prolonged use makes the headband lose tension until it's limp as fuck, and some of the joints have undue amounts of stress put on them and break damn easily. Bloody expensive buggers, too.

From the look of it it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

-wrong thread-
I should buy some of these headphones, they're rather nice, as opposed to my shitty BOSE headphones.
They're gaming headsets, you jackass.
Oh, yeah... Self-proclaimed "gamers"... That totally does not support my twit argument. I play games about fourteen to eighteen hours daily. But it's hardly something that makes me in any way special.
But yeah, you just... uhhh... How do I put it?
Oh, right! "1 R 5UR3 U 100K 1337 1n d053 101"
There, happy now? Atleast the general image will prevent you from breeding...

I'll get a better sound card once I have the money for a proper one.
7.1 headphones, what a ripoff. Give me my Audio Technica ATH-AD700s anyday.

You like quality audio but buy "gaming" headsets?
If you cared about quality sound, it would make more sense to get normal headphones and use a clip-on mic.
i like the 4H's personally but steelseries' products tend to shit out on you pretty quick in my experience.
I know, but grados are not suited for gaming but audio technicas are way better because they have good soundstages for gaymen.
Ahhh, another person that has fallen into the realm of bullshit "gaming" headsets. Get your self a real pair of headphones.

Turtle Beach makes some.
But they're Turtle Beach, so they'll sound terrible/snap in half if you turn your head too quickly.
