Source
Metro police officer Anthony Venable was decommissioned after he made a Facebook post referencing the police-involved shooting in Falcon Heights, Minn., pending the results of an internal investigation. "Yeah. I would have done 5." Venable wrote during a Facebook conversation, according to police in a statement Thursday evening. The comment appeared to reference to the number of shots in the Minnesota case where Philando Castile, 32, was killed in a police-involved shooting. “The police department is treating this matter very seriously and took immediate action, regardless of what he claims the context to have been,” Police Chief Steve Anderson said. Veneble, an eight-year MNPD veteran and Hermitage Precinct midnight shift officer, said the post was meant to be sarcastic.
If I was a cop, I wouldn't post anything on facebook
I don't understand what he's trying to say. He would have done five what? I see it mentions Castile being shot five times but unless he specifically said that's what he was referring to it kinda seems like that's grasping at straws. Doesn't make any sense to me.
He was shot 4 times. He's saying he would've shot him another time.
Oh okay I didn't know that, now it makes sense. Not a good idea to say something malicious like that especially on Facebook of all places.
Good on the police chief for having sound judgement during this clusterfuck of recent events.
"decommissioned" makes it sound like they had him put down
Reminds me of when you read an article about a police officer shooting an unarmed civilian a dozen times and you just think to yourself "Were that many shots really necessary?" Doesn't shed a positive light that the protectors of law get so carried away by emotions that they are willing to publicly execute someone purely out of anger instead of impartially taking a suspect down with the minimum that's actually required. This post is exactly the mentality you have to get rid off and replace with impartial, rational and neutral people.
