Hello I've been looking into long boards and I was wondering which one would be right for me.
I'm looking for something I can just cruise quick fast with, Not do ramps and shit.
I'm 15, I weigh 8st 70 (126) and I am about 5ft 7.
The longest one.
go to a skateshop and try them out.
duh
if you are just going to skate on it casually, it doesn't really matter. If you like doing downhill crap and want the best you can get, go to a local skateboard shop or just google it.
And you can't use longboards on ramps, they aren't made for it.
I like the ones with straps and no wheels. They are REALLY long.

No wheels, wtf? Are you referring to a longboard as in a surfing longboard?

Aw I thought this was about surfboards, but even if it was I would've been equally as clueless

Longboards ae designed to mimic surfboard's movements in water
I use the sector 9 california series.

It absolutely rocks for carving and going down hills, because its length (47") provides incredible stability. It's a lot longer than most longboards, but you get such a stable ride, especially down hills, that I would say it's completely worth it.
Although, my close friend uses the sand wedge series board, and though it is slightly less stable than the california, it is surprisingly stable and much more maneuverable and requires less leaning to turn.
It costs a bit more, but it's more portable, and if you're willing to spend the extra cash, I'd definitely recommend it.

I expected a lot of jokes to be in this thread.
well I have a £200 budget, I think I'll go with the sand wedge series board.
thanks for your help

Am I the only one who thinks OP will put it on the attic after three days?

That is pretty big compared to a dick.
So yeah. You failed.
Can't go wrong with a 38" Earthwing Superglider.

Is that al right for beginners because I know how to skateboard a little bit and surf so...
I want something that is stable and easy to turn.
what do you think of this?

get one with the glue on the top so you don't fall off

Never get an S9. They're made of cheap ass pressed wood. My first board was an S9, and I regret sinking $90 into it. I snagged the Earthwing from a friend, and its been a perfect ride ever since. Seriously, carves well, easy to initiate a slide only when you want to, and its hard to get wobbles on it.

looking forward to getting one of these, what are your views on this

looks nice but...
But its an S9. Also, you'll probably get a fair amount of wheelbite, which can be traumatizing for a young, new rider.
get a dervish like all the cool kids.
Ok, anyone know any respected dealers that will sell a 38" Earthwing Superglider?
I'm kinda new so I don't know any good shops.

Join the bandwagon and shell $300+ for a Rayne Demonseed.

Distros are going to be up to you. Read the reviews on different websites. I just order from my local shop.

That's why I love my local skate shop. They even carry Longboard Larry.
ok, i live in the UK so I don't have a local skate shop near me.
I'll check out some other shops is well.
Share the stoke, young rider.
I haven't been able to ride for about three weeks, my deck is still at a friend's house in Sacramento.
cool, can't find a shop that sells the earthwing though.

You're pretty light, so a four ply should be fine.

Also, ask around silverfishlongboarding.com, they'll steer you in the right direction.

I'm heavier set, so I go for higher plies.
nice, thanks for all the help.
as soon as I can I'll get some videos up of me cruising.
