So i cant get my computer to turn on but only the fans and the cd drive will turn on. I've googled for hours and I reseated everything, cleaned it out, blah blah blah. I replaced the gel on the CPU sink and after that it sounded like it was working but it still wasn't. Help me out please

Dead PSU maybe?
the hard drive turns on the cd drive works and the fans work. how can i be sure its the PSU?

well if the drives and fans work maybe not. sounds more like a dead motherboard now.

well if it doesn't beep it's hard to tell. your best bet is to test every part individually.
how should i do that? i don't have any other parts to replace em with
It could be a bad PSU. I doubt the mobo just died like that. Did you check if the leads from the PSU are attached properly to the mobo? Usually both the 6-pin and 24-pin ATX connections.

I'm gonna say dead motherboard.
I had a customer's computer do the EXACT same thing not even a week ago.
Bent a pin on mobo/cpu. Had that problem when I first built \;
i'm thinking dead mobo. its my gf's computer its a gateway. kinda of old so oh well. i'm hoping to build one for her
