Facebook blocks social network profile removal service
Social network giant Facebook has blocked a website from accessing people's profiles in order to delete their online presence.
The site, Web 2.0 Suicide Machine, offers to remove users from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Myspace.
It does not delete their accounts but changes the passwords and removes "friend" connections.
Seppukoo.com, which offers a similar service, was issued with a "cease and desist" letter by Facebook in 2009.
Netherlands-based moddr, behind Web 2.0 Suicide Machine, says it believes that "everyone should have the right to disconnect".
However Facebook says that by collecting login credentials, the site violates its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (SRR).
I can see their point really, since they could just turn around and harvest a load of passwords.
On Tuesday, 5 January 2010, Facebook became self aware.

What's that?
I don't see the point in the website if it only deletes profiles from 4 sites, are you really that lazy?
I don't see the point in blocking it either.

I believe the point in the website is that it changes the passwords for you, so there is no way you can log back onto your profile and reinstate it. It removes the temptation of logging back on. Of course, if you were that desperate, you could just make a new profile...
It doesn't even delete your profile FFFFFFFFFFF

Oh yeah, didn't read the next line.
:smith:
If Facebook was a German company, they'd already be DEAD for this.

Or instead of that just open notepad, randomly bash your keyboard, copy-paste it as your new password, done.
Can't you contact Facebook to bring it down anyway?

Yes. It's a rather easy and above all, free, process.
This company was slated more towards people who only know how to turn a computer on.
