• Weird screen error installing ubuntu

So my moms laptop is a piece of shit storebought HP that runs vista. Natural she shitted it up by clicking everything she saw. It got to the point where it would crash if i didnt run it in safe mode. Decided i'd reinstall vista, but i dont have the CD and i cant burn cd's in safe mode. My desktop is at my dads so i asked a friend to put vista on a cd for me, he put ubuntu on it and said i'd be better off with that. I dont know anything about it but i figured anything is better than vista. I checked around and saw how to install. I get the normal "try ubuntu/install ubuntu" screen on occasion, but it likes to jump straight into install. And either way i get this Is this a problem i can fix? Also: Im posting all of this from an ipod, so excuse my capitalization and whatnot.
You might wanna play with the settings when you stick the disc in. Try running in video safe mode and such.
Ill try that, and if that fails I'll bring it my dads where my desktop is and try different versions. I saw a guide once before that had a list of what laptops run what version best, i looked the model number but didnt see it. So i gave up. Later i looked up and realized that the top corner of the screen said DvP6000 or something, and that number WAS on the list.
Yea I had some issues similar to that, and I ended up having to reinstall the restricted video drivers.
