• computer will not post - fans run, lights run, hd power, no visuals or beeps

Hi, I am helping my friend build his computer. He's running on an athlon X2 5600+ with a asus M2N32- Deluxe, 2x 8800gts 640, and an 850 watt psu. After we had everything built and tried to fire up the comp, there was no visuals and no beeps. The fans run, the HD powers on, and the mobo south bridge light comes on. -We tried resetting the bios several times. -We tried my old ram that worked on that mobo for 3 years with no success. -We tried 2 different monitors and we switch around the gfx cards as well as trying each gfx card alone. We are now thinking the problem is either the mobo or the cpu. Please help us figure this shindig out!! We're at the verge of buying a new athlon x2 6000+.
Is the CPU properly seated?
Is the CPU properly seated?
Yep, we took the heat sink off to check that.
I suspect it's something to do with the CPU.. Though I cant really say what if it was properly seated.
Send the motherboard into asus (or where you bought it if recent) sounds deffinatly like a motherboard issue. Corrupt bios or internal problem most likely. If you don't want to send it in immediately you could request from them a new bios chip and see if that works. I recently RMAed a few motherboards from them. The process took a week and a half but it was clean and easy. Cpu could be the problem but I highly doubt it.
is the cpu power connector in
This happened to me a while ago; it was a mobo issue. RMA'd it, got a new one and it worked fine.
