FINLAND. Anti-narcotics association EHYT is claiming that brewery company Olvi is advertising their new long drink with with the image of cannabis use. The association thinks that Olvi's new marketing slogan Legualize for their new Leguana long drink is a reference to cannabis. EHYT says it's too close to "Legalize" slogan which have been in use for years for rallying for legalization of cannabis. Olvi's marketing director Olli Heikkilä says that the company never considered such connection between the advert and illegal drugs. "I don't smoke weed and neither does anybody else here. We sell long drinks" Heikkilä says "It can't be a coinsidence", EHYT claims, "When you type Leaguana's slogan legualize! into a seach engine, you find only a little info about long drinks but quite a lot about marijuana" Heikkilä claims that Legualize only refers to long drink's name, Leaguana. "Our marketing team came up with it and it's pretty good" he says. The Social and Health ministry of Finland is preparing a law proposal which will ban image advertising of alcohol products. EHYT says that Olvi's marketing campaign is a case in point why we would need such change in legislation. "Trying to find selling images from illicit drugs is anything but responsible marketing of alcohol products". Really? Some times people just need something to complain about. Let them sell their drinks.
What's wrong with wanting to legalize something anyway if that was their intention?
"Your slogan makes me think of cannabis even if it isnt supposed to, so you guys must be supporting cannabis"
Thinking way too much about this, fuckwits.
reminds me of a brewery nearby that's promoting their new hops-loaded beer with "hopheads wanted" as the slogan tempts me to buy some in solidarity
So people for legalization of homosexual marriage are all secretly potheads as well?
So people for legalization of homosexual marriage are all secretly potheads as well?
actually, they want to legalize marijuana so it can destroy the world. If marijuana is legalized, then people will be so lazy they won't work. and if they don't work, the worlds economy goes down, if the worlds economy goes down the world will be destroyed, pretty obvious if you ask me
breaking news despite claims from facepunch, legalising weed will not instantly solve all of the world's problems
breaking news despite claims from facepunch, legalising weed will not instantly solve all of the world's problems
Nobody claimed it will solve all of the world's problems. It will solve some of them however. Regardless of anything there is no good reason to criminalize weed.
When I first saw the advert I thought about legalizing cannabis.
cannabis is bad because its illegal ok very irresponsible of this drinks company to advertise in such a crude and despicable manner
How dare they have a political opinion! Here's a thought: if you don't like a company's political opinion, punish them by not consuming their products.
Wait, so it's bad to openly show you're for legalizing anything?
They have too much weed on their minds.
Nobody claimed it will solve all of the world's problems. It will solve some of them however. Regardless of anything there is no good reason to criminalize weed.
What will it solve that it can't already solve?
What will it solve that it can't already solve?
Well for starters it will stop our justice system from shoving a bunch of people into an already overcrowded court and prison system for smoking a barely harmful leaf. Now it's your turn. What does keeping weed illegal solve?
it's a flower, not a leaf (most of the time).
Well for starters it will stop our justice system from shoving a bunch of people into an already overcrowded court and prison system for smoking a barely harmful leaf.
Sounds like that's a problem with the legal system, not a problem with keeping it legal.
Sounds like that's a problem with the legal system, not a problem with keeping it legal.
Well the way I see it there are only two solution. One of the solutions is to spend time and resources making more prisons. The other solution is to stop making weed a bigger deal than it actually is.
Well the way I see it there are only two solution. One of the solutions is to spend time and resources making more prisons.
The Social and Health ministry of Finland is preparing a law proposal which will ban image advertising of alcohol products.
stupid [editline]20th May 2012[/editline] this entire thing is retarded
"It can't be a coinsidence", EHYT claims, "When you type Leaguana's slogan legualize! into a seach engine, you find only a little info about long drinks but quite a lot about marijuana"
They don't seem to have an idea of how search engines work.
"It can't be a coinsidence", EHYT claims, "When you type Leaguana's slogan legualize! into a seach engine, you find only a little info about long drinks but quite a lot about marijuana"
are you fucking kidding me
Or, since it seems to be a problem with the legal system, you could do something about the legal system.
What exactly could you do about the legal system? The problem is that people are being punished and treat like criminals over smoking something which more and more suggests is actually less harmful than tobacco/alcohol. The way I see it there is absolutely no justification for weed being illegal if tobacco and alcohol arent, but then again I think it could cause some problem with people being idiots and smoking it through the day then going to work/driving. If it were my decision then it would be legal but the penalties for DUI and the likes would be very high. Anyway yeah its stupid that they are being so pissy about this even though the place said the drink name had nothing to do with drugs. *EDIT* Actually rather than legalizing it completely they should just make the penalty for being caught with it a small fine/slap on the wrist. They just shouldnt actively hunt people for growing/distributing it.
breaking news despite claims from facepunch, legalising weed will not instantly solve all of the world's problems
Neither would curing cancer or ending world hunger. Because I can't get all of my daily nutritional needs from a salad does that mean I should just give up on salad?
Or, since it seems to be a problem with the legal system, you could do something about the legal system.
Like changing the laws regarding it?
Well the way I see it there are only two solution. One of the solutions is to spend time and resources making more prisons. The other solution is to stop making weed a bigger deal than it actually is.
You could just fine people and confiscate the drug, you don't need to arrest them.
Or, since it seems to be a problem with the legal system, you could do something about the legal system.
Why not do both? Weed doesn't hurt anyone so there's no valid reason to keep it illegal, besides that fact you're legislating what people can and cannot do with their own body.
I've seen that drink around tastes like pigswill
A lot of people do that anyway, and where I live you do get charged with a dui for driving while high or on any drug so legalising it wouldn't create those problems.
