This started happening about a week after I installed the first game onto this computer, terraria. I noticed It started happening, and I decided to uninstall terraria. But, It kept happening, so I even uninstalled steam. The computer I'm using is my brother's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525).
So, I ran Glarys utilities, and It found about 50 regristry errors and the such. It repaired them, and I restarted the computer. That didn't do enough, since It kept freezing, So i ran Avast! and Adaware, But it froze halfway through the scans. I keep having to force shut off the computer, and I have no clue what to do anymore.
What's wrong with my computer?
This is usually overheating, check temps
This laptop is kinda forced to be on a desk since I accidentally fell on it a year ago and broke the hinges on the screen.(this computer is a mess, And i plan on building a new desktop soon) So that sounds plausible.
I also forgot to mention that when i force turn it off, sometimes it has to run a disk consistency check or start up repair.
How do I check it's temperature?
If you force turn the computer off, sometimes a file could have been writing to the hard drive so the file could get corrupted, which is why a disk consistency check/startup repair is done. Check temperature with HWmonitor http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.18-setup.exe
You're running at 90c there, nearly reaching 100c. Your problem is definitely overheating.

and how shall I fix this? once again this laptop is stuck on a desk.
You either need to clean the laptop on the inside, ensure that the fan is still functioning in the laptop. Or you could try blowing an external fan at the heatsink of the laptop
Thanks, if i place some wooden pegs on each corner of the laptop to elevate it, will that help?
A bit, but not that much.
Meh. I'll buy a laptop fan.
oh, also, thank you guys for helping! [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
alright, now, every time it crashes (even if it's not that hot) it does a disk consistency check. Is not having a laptop cooling pad till next wendsday too long?
It's normal for it to do that when the computer doesn't shut down properly.
alright. cool. got a little worried there.
they're a pain in the ass though.
