I'm having rather low expectations for this one......

I swear, Hollywood hasn't known what a teenager looks like in 20 years.
I'm betting 20$ that it'll be a campy romantic comedy full of social media references just to try and "appeal" to teenagers who hate 80s movies.
I already found the original to be quite pointless and so's this one, North Korea is hardly a "Big Baddie". That and some of the shit the teenagers did was utterly stupid.
Oh look a remake of the old red dawn, but now we're fighting north koreans instead of russians!
the old one had some funny because it was so stupid parts in it.
Damn, was hoping this was scrapped.
And when it couldn't be enough, MGM had gotten a horrible idea
In March 2011, the Los Angeles Times reported that MGM is changing the villains in its Red Dawn remake from Chinese to North Korean in order to maintain access to China's lucrative box office. The changes reportedly cost less than $1 million and involve changing an opening sequence summarizing the story's fictional backdrop, re-editing two scenes and using digital technology to transform many Chinese symbols to Korean. The changes will not eliminate all references to China though will give North Korea a much larger role in the coalition that invades the U.S. Producer Trip Vinson stated, "We were initially very reluctant to make any changes, but after careful consideration we constructed a way to make a scarier, smarter and more dangerous 'Red Dawn' that we believe improves the movie

You know what's funny? Patrick Swayze, who played the same role that Chris Hemsworth is portraying, was 32 when the movie was released in 1984, 3 years older then the 29 year old Chris Hemsworth. In fact, Hemsworth was exactly a year and a day old when Red Dawn was released.
I'm interested in seeing Josh Peck's portrayal, seeing as all I've ever seen him in is Drake and Josh and that old ass movie Snow Day.
And Patrick Swayze actually looked young and could pull off a teenager.
Chris Hemsworth cannot in any way, shape, or form look like a teenager.

That being said, I'm not attacking Chris Hemsworth or defending the original version, I'm just saying Hollywood doesn't know what a teenager looks like.
Those stills in the OP aren't doing this movie any favors.
This movie has disaster written all over it, it's gonna be fucking terrible

Even fucking teenagers should know that you don't take a helicopter on with an assault rifle even if it's an AK-47
Can't say I'm expecting much from this. The original isn't even a stellar piece of work as far as I remember.
I thought they changed the villain from the much more capable China to Best Korea because they wanted to try and appeal to Homefront.
And that's funny considering this will bomb ten times harder than the already failed Homefront did.
The premise is funny because North Korea can't actually do anything like that. At most, North Korea would attack South Korea and promptly get their shit killed so hard.
Actually due to how hard the NKs are dug in combined with the geography of NK it would be extremely hard to actually defeat them when we invade.

I like how you say "when" instead of "if".
one would think there would be a trailer by now.
The first movie was dumb. It was part fear-mongering propaganda and part typical action movie (the only thing it was missing was Ahnold, but I don't think he was a big-name actor yet when that movie came out). I highly doubt the remake will do better. Hell, I don't think a remake was necessary at all.
Red Dawn was actually filmed in 2010 but due to MGM's Chapter 11 bankruptcy had to postpone it's release. Now it is finally being released..

Yeah, wasn't there a whole bunch of controversy because it was originally China. But China were pretty pissed off about that, so they had to digitally change all the flags and banners that had any Chinese symbols.
Not sure how well this is going to turn out with all the delays and stuff.
I thought that they changed everything to North Korea only for the Chinese release, but no. They had to keep it in for the whole release.

As if the original had high production value. It was super cheesy. It was so cheesy that I think G4 changed the russian subtitles because they were saying some pretty silly things.

It is inevitable.
I honestly hope this movie fails, it isn't even being announced at Comic-Con nor mentioned
I honestly hope this movie fails.
Why?
Makes no sense calling it "Red Dawn" without, you know, the Reds.
Why rate me dumb? I'm being serious. Why would you WANT a movie to fail? Surely you'd prefer it to be good, so you can see another good movie. Yeah I know it will probably suck, but wouldn't it be better if it didn't?
I'd only want a movie to fail if it was made by someone I truly dislike (George Lucas or whatever)
I don't have high expectations for this movie either, though
