New thread tags effort | Part three: er, what new tags should we even have? - General

From there, I made a more consistent set of brand tags and realized that their consistency didn't actually fit among the slapdashery of the rest of Facepunch's thread tags, so I went about remaking the whole set. After some feedback as to consistency and that kind of stuff, I figured I should back up and ask some questions before we go any further: 1. Is there even a demand for this? While feedback was generally positive on my first proposed new set, there was also a lingering sentiment that it wasn't really necessary. Should we even update the tags in the first place, or even just certain ones like the console tags as per the original thread? 2. If we were to do a whole set do-over, I feel that now would be the time to step back and decide all the tags the forum should even use so our filing system - so to speak - is more organized. Are there tags we should get rid of or new ones we should introduce? I'd say we should create a list of all the tags we'd include in the new set before we go any further, should we decide to have one. 3. Is the size locked at 60x15? Synthiac brought this up in the last thread that if we were to have new post tags, maybe we should up the resolution a little bit on them to something akin to 80x20 or even just 64x16. Is it even possible to change the tag size, and should we if we can? I imagine monitor resolutions are quite a bit higher now than when the original tags were made.

Honestly, we need new tags. We may have started life as a SA clone, but it's time to move on. Also, we need a gross tag before we can replace the tags.

I would like this but good luck getting Garry to do something he doesn't want to. He has a reputation for being fairly stubborn with this sort of thing.

I've wanted new SH-appropriate tags for ages; politics, computers, and games are pretty much the only news topics that have appropriate tags atm I'd welcome a total overhaul of the tags, [I]but[/I] I worry that the ones in the part two thread may look too similar and be harder to tell apart. It might be fine when they're actually on the page and not clustered together though.

To be honest, I may just scrap the set in the part two thread entirely and redo the whole shebang. In any case, don't let my work there shackle discussion here.
