Yeah, fucking wikipedia being irresponsible and protecting our freedoms and shit.
Awesome, I'm glad to see people come together like this, but I won't truly be happy until we start replacing congress and fixing the root of these issues.
Wow, it actually worked!

To be fair it would've been an irresponsible if it wasn't Wikipedia and Wordpress. Two high billing, well-known and arguably very useful sites backed by a bunch of smaller sites has much more impact than a bunch of small sites shutting down for a day. It might've failed if it weren't for them, seeing as how most of congress probably won't take notice of a site like Rock Paper Shotgun or 4chan being shut down while they're browsing at work.
The moves were described as an "abuse of power" by one of the highest-profile supporters of the anti-piracy bills.
"It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information," Mr Dodd said in a statement, calling the actions taken by the high-profile websites "yet another gimmick".
"No," said Mr. Pot to Mr. Kettle, "You're black!"
Now, somebody buy a round of drinks for the eight backing out for protecting the internet.

they only switched because they know it could destroy their careers if they kept it up
MPAA calling the blackout an "abuse of power" is the funniest thing in this whole SOPA/PIPA thing. They're absolutely oblivious.
How is it "abuse of power", if you own a website, you can pretty do anything you want and nobody can stop you." I'd laugh if google decided to delist the MPAA from google.

Surely we should buy a round for the ones who opposed it from the start, not the ones who pulled out at the last minute because it was too politically damaging
