The case has been described in the news media as Britain’s worst case of “modern-day slavery” and likened to that of Ariel Castro, the man who kidnapped and tormented three women for years in Cleveland. A 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 30-year-old British woman were rescued from a house in Lambeth, a borough in south London, last month after reaching out to a charity. Details of the case emerged Thursday when a man and a woman, both 67, were arrested on suspicion of forced labor, domestic servitude and immigration offenses. They were released on bail early Friday after surrendering their passports.
Every update about this case makes it even more disturbing to read. Imagine how often this could be happening in the developed world.
They were released on bail early Friday after surrendering their passports.
im sorry, what? the couple that kept three women as slaves for 30 years were released on bail? what the fuck
im sorry, what? the couple that kept three women as slaves for 30 years were released on bail? what the fuck
Don't worry, they've got some invisible handcuffs keeping them in line. ... I hope Although what I really hope that they get put in jail for at least 30 years.
im sorry, what? the couple that kept three women as slaves for 30 years were released on bail? what the fuck
it's sorta hard to organize a defense during incarceration. it also costs the state a lot of money to keep criminals in jail awaiting trial.
im sorry, what? the couple that kept three women as slaves for 30 years were released on bail? what the fuck
Pf~ It was only a few weeks ago a convicted murderer walked out of an open prison. Our justice system is a joke bro.
im sorry, what? the couple that kept three women as slaves for 30 years were released on bail? what the fuck
Adding to what yawmwen said, now also isn't the time for punishment. Realistically, if they aren't likely to run or likely to actually harm anyone else in the time between now and the trial, there's really no reason to keep them locked up. They'll get what they deserve when it comes (no matter how much evidence there is against them, legally they are still innocent until the verdict).
Wow, brainwashing to believe this kind of thing? How does something like that even work?
Sounds like hypnotism.
You people DO know how fucking BAIL works right?
You people DO know how fucking BAIL works right?
Wow it's this thread all over again.
Don't worry, they've got some invisible handcuffs keeping them in line. ... I hope Although what I really hope that they get put in jail for at least 30 years.
this is lifetime solitary confinement worthy shit.
You people DO know how fucking BAIL works right?
afaik someone pays the prison money and the bad people are let out? :v: If that's wrong, feel free to elaborate.
afaik someone pays the prison money and the bad people are let out? :v: If that's wrong, feel free to elaborate.
it is money paid which allows those on bail to leave jail and organize a defense as they are legally able to do, on the condition that they return for their court hearing. if they do return and show up for all court proceedings, they get the bail returned to them regardless of the verdict. if they do not return, then they lose that money and a warrant is sent out for their arrest for failure to appear in court. it isn't really at all like "pay prisons money and get let out."
Sounds like a relationship, don't leave or Ill hit you.
This sounds like a fetish. Oh wait it is, yes.
afaik someone pays the prison money and the bad people are let out? :v: If that's wrong, feel free to elaborate.
Bail only applies to people who have not been convicted yet and at that, only to those who pose little flee risk or little violence risk. Which can have extra conditions like giving up your passport.

Strict curfews and regular visits to the police station can also be conditions of bail. Source
