The MCU follows the adventures of Marvel superheroes as they endure many foes, mystical entities, monsters, warlords, sarcastic quippy self-aware AIs, drunk actors and of course romance interests all compiled in a huge universe known as the Great Tree
discuss
edit: updated the banner with celery- i mean ant-man
Maybe it's just me but I would like to see another thread as just "Marvel Megathread".
We already discuss all of the Marvel licensed movies here, not just the MCU ones, so why not comics and cartoons?

Or video games? As rare as they may be.

Oh boy that needs updating.
We discuss that stuff anyway

Also that banner had lost potential with antman standing on Thanos's head.
Oh boy that needs updating.
i just copy pasted it from the last thread didn't even look at it
anyone got an updated one?
You should include a link from the previous thread, too.
Seen Ant Man? Go download the Empire Spoiler Podcast which focuses on Ant-Man right now. I would link to it but it's different depending on your devices.
Cut Flashback:[sp] The film originally opened with a scene of Ant Man stealing a microfilm from a general in 80's Panama. It was like a Bond sequence. You didn't really see Ant-Man that much, it was like an invisible man. At one point you see the fullsize tank that Hank later has as a keyring. In Wright's original script this scene took place in 60's Cuba[/sp]
The post credits tags: [sp]They shot a few comedy sequence with Luis. But when Peyton Reed saw some Civil War footage he decided to throw that in instead. He felt the film already had a good enought ending with Luis and the Civil War footage gave a chance to link directly into the next Cap film and show the relevance of the Falcon cameo[/sp]
The psychedelic sequence towards the end: [sp]They had discussions about including Dr Strange here. But it never went beyond that as Peyton didn't want to overstuff the movie. However he says he did include something. You see it from Scott's perspective and then again in the reflection of his visor. Scott doesn't see it but the audience can.[/sp]
Lots more, really worth a listen.
My thread has evolved to v2, so happy
Just saw antman for the second time [sp]still didn't see wasp in the quantum realm, so wher should I look if I go a third time[/sp]?
Just saw antman for the second time [sp]still didn't see wasp in the quantum realm, so wher should I look if I go a third time[/sp]?
Really? I saw it on my first viewing only knowing something was there based on what the director said.
Really? I saw it on my first viewing only knowing something was there based on what the director said.
[sp]Seriously it appears twice- if I remember correctly- there's once in the visor and another when as a silhouette when he's shrinking/deshrinking[/sp]
I'd hate to derail the thread with that 'magic/science' debate again, but I think both sides were being too clear cut/literal.[sp] I think this whole quantum realm thing in Ant Man proves it, if Thor and GotG didn't already[/sp]
It seems to me that Marvel have a huge universe of characters, some with a magic background, such as Thor, and some with science, such as Iron Man. Only the MCU has a fresh chance to establish these characters for the first time for most people, and since crossovers and a big universe is the order of the day right now, they're going to make these characters seem like they're part of the same world with the same rules.
To do that, they've blurred the difference between science and magic. Asgardians fit in the cosmic world that was elaborated in GotG, does that mean they're not magic? Of course not, but it's more like they have a peculiar science-magic fuelled mythical society than straight up Norse mythology.
I think it's cool what they've done so far, and my only worry now is that 'finally introducing magic with Doctor Strange' means the movie will be full of nonsense words (vishanti this, denak that) and "it's magic, we don't have to explain anything!"
[sp]anthony[/sp] ;_;
I'm so glad antman turned out as good as I was hoping. but they really did phone in the whole "let's just knock out all our character development and drama here, so the rest of the movie can be a riproaring good time" scene sequence.
I'm not sure if I should put this here or in the Agents of Shield thread but i'll put it here cause that thread isn't really active unless there is a season in progress. But here's some speculation for season 3 about Lash: [sp]Does anyone think Lash is going to be Simmons? That rock is going to change her, and if they have announced it this early that Lash is in the new series I think they're building it up. They keep saying how they are gonna need a big muscleman but it would be quite funny if they turned around and said nope.[/sp]

Well, that leaves me highly optimistic. [sp]That it will bomb so hard that Fox will give the rights back to Marvel for (almost) free[/sp]
What does it mean when a movie is embargoed?
You can't publish a movie review until the embargo ends. Same as with reviews of video games, music, books, etc etc.
What does it mean when a movie is embargoed?
Sadly,
http://www.thatsfake.com/did-ant-man-release-350-pounds-of-ants-into-a-bank-and-rob-it/
wow gee i had no idea i totally thought a man "escaped with loot worth millions of dollars" by pouring ants inside a bank
in fact i was about to rob a bank with ants myself, dodged a bullet there, thanks
What does it mean when a movie is embargoed?
It means the press aren't allowed to publish their review until after a certain time.
merge--
What does it mean when a movie is embargoed?
They prevent reviewers/critics from viewing the movie and writing a review before a certain point pre-release.
Same as a video game embargo.
It almost universally means the movie/game is dogshit.
Watched Daredevil over the last couple of days, oh man, everybody was right, it really was amazing. I really love that it was as much about Fisk as it was about Murdock. Vincent D'Onofrio really did an amazing job with Fisk and Charlie Cox as Daredevil is my favourite MCU superhero by far.
I'm really looking forward to the other Netlix series now.
The sad thing is now I think I have to see Fantfourstic just to see if it ranks as one of the worst of the year.
