• How do they get those big ass tower cranes in and out of the construction area?

I was going into the city a few days ago and I saw a giant ass crane and then thought how the hell do they get it there? It's to big for a truck even if they take it apart. And when they are done how do they not hit anything? Example
Don't they descend down onto a truck or something? Oh wait im thinking of the wrong thing
They build them on site. For most skyscrapers the crane is first assembled where the building will be and the building is built around it. Then they disassemble the crane when the building is near completion.
magic
Aliens
It's an Autobot. It turns into a truck in the middle of the night.

They build it piece by piece. Google it.
i work for a company that makes signs, and we did some work for a crane rental company. i had the same question. they just disassemble them, and then they reassemble them on the spot.
Since you ruled out the real answer by judging it as too big for an infinite amount of trucks. I guess the only option left is magic.
But not black magic right? You don't fuck with that shit.
From wikipedia "A tower crane is usually assembled by a telescopic jib (mobile) crane of greater reach (also see "self-erecting crane" below) and in the case of tower cranes that have risen while constructing very tall skyscrapers, a smaller crane (or derrick) will often be lifted to the roof of the completed tower to dismantle the tower crane afterwards." They use smaller cranes to assemble the bigger cranes :psyduck:
They use another crane to build/deconstruct it. That's right, it's an infinite paradox of building and deconstructing cranes.
But then who was smaller crane?
it was itself goddamn

This thread is pretty fast.
The government did it. In all seriousness; they get the parts and build it on the spot.
Question answered, move along folks. Nothing more to see here.
Yeh it's funny.. they get a mobile crane which is actually higher then the crane they are building.

Construction works and crane operators put it there. Unless this is Sim City, in which case they push their way out of the ground and sit on top of the building somehow.
spy sappin my crane
Most large tower cranes effectively build themselves by sliding segments into a gapped area directly beneath the main arm. Once that part is in place, the entire top assembly of the crane slides upwards so that another segment can be placed in the gap. Rinse and repeat. They use dinosaurs.
Noclip and the weld tool
It's one of life's greater mysteries. A question with no answer. Just like "Where's my pen?"
-snip- I confused myself
They use NANOTECHNOLOGY© and assemble it with MICROSCOPIC ROBOTS FROM THE FUTURE©.
