Finally, alongside GNOME, Debian 6 ships with KDE Plasma Desktop, Xfce and LXDE desktop environments. There's also a KDE Plasma Netbook shell that makes Debian a lot more usable on small form-factor devices.

I've never tried Debian. Might give it a shot, now...
Just upgraded from Lenny and now it seems my hard disk is dying, so I can install it again in a day.
Is there some way to clone or copy it over from a IDE disk to a SATA one?

Ubuntu is Debian derived right? I might try it if so, it wouldn't be too big a jump, but it would give me a bit more practice over having everything pre-installed :v:

Yes, it isn't that big of a jump and there tons of things you will not miss and things you want aren't that hard to find either. Some times you could use things meant for Ubuntu.
Oh yeah, you should get used to the test first and release later update system.
I'm sad that it is 2.6.32 instead of 2.6.33 now my TV card isn't supported by default.
