This has been happening a lot recently Here is a recording of the sound after it had gone on for about 2 minutes; http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3315994/Home%20%281%29.amr Does anyone know what it could be?
You should check your anus for probes.
I dunno what the heck that is or could be.
It could be someone lisening to your calls. Im not joking.
Can't open .amr. Agree with Luke7dude.
Sadly I don't seem to have a player that plays amrs Damn ninja
Someone post this in the weird broadcasts/sounds thread
Can't open .amr. Agree with Luke7dude.
Quicktime. I'm assuming this is a wireless phone? Maybe get a new one that uses a higher frequency? Also http://www.ehow.com/how_5102113_tell-phone-tapped.html If you suspect your phone might be tapped
Their watching you Hezzy, run to the border while you still can
Realplayer plays .amrs Hold on that sounds like the noise I get when I put a MP4 Video file into Audacity.
OH SHIT IT'S THE FEDS :pcgaming:
What phone provider do you use, and what kind of phone is it? Is this effect reproducable easily? When does it seem to happen? And does it happen in any call, with whoever whether or not it was inbound or outbound? It sounds like it could be a codec problem, where your cell signal's codec changes (which can happen for various reasons) but it's not decoded by the phone properly.
You could also be picking up a radio signal. I sometimes get it.
That sounds creepy, contact your phone provider, have them check it out. I'm sure they'll know.
Sounds... organic

It happens randomly and on both inbound and outbound calls, but with increasing frequency lately
Interference? Do you know what kind of frequency the phone broadcasts in?
It sounds like something I can reproduce if I put the antennas of two walkie talkies together and hold the buttons of both, kinda picks up some radio signals.
What can I do if I think my phone is tapped? If you think your phone line is wiretapped, call your local phone company. Most phone companies will inspect your lines for wiretap devices free of charge. If a tap is found, the phone company will check to see if it is authorized. The phone company will alert you if the wiretap is illegal. It will also notify law enforcement and remove the device. However, you will not be notified if the wiretap is legal, made by law enforcement and authorized by a court. However, once a legal wiretap has been discontinued, the court must notify the tapped party that the wiretapping has taken place. Normally, this notice must occur within 90 days of the wiretap termination. (18 USC 2518(8)(d)) If you discover that someone has intentionally intercepted your private phone conversations, you may be able to take legal action. If you or the phone company find an illegal tap, you should notify local law enforcement officials. In addition, you may want to consult an attorney. Many people think if they hear noises on the phone line, like clicks, static or voices, that the line is tapped. Most wiretapping devices emit no audible sounds. If you hear others talking on your phone, you may simply be experiencing "crosstalk," a common phone problem. If you hear crosstalk or other sounds, call your local phone company's repair service and ask it to investigate the problem. Cordless telephones also may pick up others' conversations. This can happen if you and a neighbor have cordless phones which are tuned to the same channel. (See PRC fact sheet no. 2, "Wireless Communications: Cordless/Cellular Phones and Pagers.")
The phone provider is 3, it is a SE C902 and I cannot reproduce it. It happens randomly and on both inbound and outbound calls, but with increasing frequency lately
Ok, that's pretty odd. I would suggest calling a customer service representative about it, and possibly replacing your phone. Oh, and one more important question - does it seem to happen wherever you are, or only at a specific location? I don't think it's radio interference, and people talking about the "frequency" have no idea how cell phones work. Unless it was a cordless landline telephone, interference would only degrade signal quality, not cause distortions that bad. And it's definitely not being tapped, either. You wouldn't hear a difference at all if it was. The people who are saying it's a possible tap seem like they know very little about phones, and are jumping to conclusions.
Oh, it's a cellphone? Then a tap doesn't make sense, that shouldn't create any sound or signal at all..
people talking about the "frequency" have no idea how cell phones work.
I'm pretty sure none of us were talking about cell phones.
It's the FBI, assuring they're higher in the world security food chain than you. :tinfoil:

I'm the one disrupting your phonecalls. If you want me to stop, fix my contact email dammit :argh:
At least thats what I get from SE C902 on google.
Try to play that sound piece slowly also quicktime plays .amr files. It comes with itunes if you have that
Seven days...
That would scare the FUCK outta me if I picked it up while on the phone
