Greek political parties and unions are urging the government to reverse its surprise decision to shut down state broadcaster ERT.
Most of the broadcaster's output has been taken off air, although shortwave radio and internet broadcasts continue.
Protest rallies are being held in support of the broadcaster's staff, with thousands rallying outside ERT's headquarters in the capital Athens, and unions have called a general strike.
Fucker was taking our money like crazy anyway. Tv in Greece has become utter shit.
The staff there had huge salaries and we had to pay for that shit. Will be a wonder if most of us here can pay the taxes.
This literally came out of nowhere
How are the private broadcasters? Are they as annoying as I the United States or downright corrupt like in Italy?
What I am shocked by this is that it was shut down with no consultation or debate in parliament beforehand. I hope the BBC can't just be shut down like this.

I doubt this will happen, the BBC provides quality programming and is a big part of the British national identity
..or will it??
