Okay, I've been thinking about getting a new phone for a while. I've never been in with all the cool phones but always wanted an iPhone. Just the idea of having the internet out and about is quite useful.
But looking around and hearing peoples opinions shakes my decision a little. Such as signal issues, glass cracking on the phone from a small drop and the camera messing up.
Now I'll be honest I only own one Apple product which is an ipod nano 4th generation.
But of course I'll ask you guys since you are clued up on most of Apple's work and I would like to get one soon.
I've done a small amount of researched on the internet but from what I know the main problem, signal issues has not been corrected. Is the anything else I should be aware of?
Any help would be very appreciated.
With the bumper I'm to believe the signal is fine and if you drop glass you break glass simple as. You could wait it out till June to get the iPhone 5 as I'm sure you'll know. Have you considered Android, Windows Mobile 7 or any other phone? Everything has the internet out and about nowadays, its just the UI, wide variety of apps and the like that make it different.
The best advice I can give you is go out to shops and try each phone out as much as you can and see what you like most.
I agree with the above. I own an iPhone 4 and I haven't encountered any signal issues without my case on, however most of the time I have it on anyway. I've had the phone for months (most without case) and the glass is pristine. If I wiped the smudges away you couldn't tell that it's not new. The problems were true but probably a bit exaggerated. I advise you shop around and try out other phones to get a good feel for other mobile operating systems and see what's your favourite. It's all about personal preference really.
I wouldn't buy a new cellphone now. There are awesome dual core phones coming out in the 2 months. You should wait for them until you make a decision.
Atleast wait, as the "A5" is supposed to be around 4 times as powerful as the A4.
i used an iphone 4 once, the screen looked pretty sweet
can the accelerometer be turned off yet? my one problem with my ipod's interface is that i can't disable the automatic flip to cover flow.
You can lock orientation.
And yeah, if I were you I would probably hold out until the next iPhone, and then reassess the market.
I've never had any problems with my iPhone 4's signal either.
Definately check out all OS's first.
Personally I've had a HTC Hero, HTC Desire, and iPhone 4...the iPhone has been my favorite to use by far. The screen is just so great on it, the look and feel is above any other phone I've used. I mean, if I were you I'd wait to get the iPhone 5, but hell the iPhone 4 is hardly going to be massively out of date by the time it comes out.
With Android, it's good if you like tinkering, and HTC make some dam good phones, so thats worth looking at.
And the Windows Phone 7 stuff looks really good, I haven't had a play with them, but I'd say regardless of what you think now, it's worth going in store, and testing out a couple of phones you like the look of.
wait for next gen, it should come out in july
just don't buy it on contract since contracts are the biggest scam ever
"hey spend $2000 on this contract for a $700 phone reduced to $200!!!!"
I have never had my screen crack on all three of my iPhones. The signal issue, if you're not using a case and have an awkward hold, then you might have an issue. If you don't have a case, then shame on you! I have had all iPhones, an HTC Hero, and a couple burner phones. iPhone is the best by far for me productivity wise.
never had the signal issue tbh

The iPhone 4 will be heavily outdated by when the iPhone 5 is released. There's coming dual core phones, and rumours that the A5 will be 4 times as powerful as the A4. As said this is just a rumour, but really, it will be outdated no matter what.

Why would you get a case that makes your elegant expensive device look like a children's toy?

I never use a case for my phone and it doesn't have a single tiny scratch.

Benchmarks comparing the NVIDIA Tegra 2 to Samsung's Hummingbird (which is identical to the A4) suggest that the new dual core CPUs will be about 3 times faster. It could be a shitty benchmark though.
I just got it today. its fucking amazing. Excuse my french. I use a very sleek case that protects and doesent kill its greatness. I also but the sticker that camer with my i7 on the back of the case so i can think that my iphon 4 has an i7 lol
I am almost certiantly going to go for an iPhone 5 when it comes out. My 3G is quivering at the thought of dual core phones.
I was thinking of getting the iPhone 4 when it comes to Verizon, but I'll probably wait until June.
If you're worried about cracking your iPhone screen you shouldn't be. Every phone has the same risk. Even if you do crack it you can go to an apple store and tell them to put in a new screen for $90.
Signal issues aren't really issues some stupid reviewer probably covered the antenna with his hand and then exaggerated on his stupid site.

But the start of the year isn't a good time to get a new cell phone all the new models come out in near the beginning of summer.

Yeah, every phone has the same risk of cracking the screen, but the iPhone 4 is almost covered in glass, so there's really no comparison.

Yeah I was thinking about the 3g which is my bad but still if you drop a Samsung Galaxy S and you drop an iphone 4 I'm sure both screens would break same with a Motorola Backflip. If one phone has more glass all that means is that more glass will break. If it breaks you have to get a new one no matter what phone you have. The only difference is with an iPhone 4 the back will be smashed as well as the front but that's really a moot point since you'll have to but a new one any way.

Yeah, but here's a 100% (Okay, not 100%, but high!) risk that something will break when you drop the phone.
