On Monday, Fox released a brief video of the studio, complete with gigantic touch screens as workstations with "groundbreaking" software that will allow Smith's team to track and monitor breaking stories on social media. In an interview with Business Insider last month, Smith explained that he will play the role of gatekeeper — taking what the team tracks and verifies from social media and bringing it to viewers. It's part of a push from the network to modernize the way news is presented by "escaping the boundaries of the traditional evening newscast." "It's kind of an old 1960s thought that you cram the news into an hour — every day, you have exactly the same amount," Smith said. "So now, we'll weave it in all day. Roger says I'll be on a lot more than I am right now, which'll piss a lot of people off. "But news is organic. And we're going to bring it to you when we have it." Haha I love the background picture that lists topics in big bold fiery scare-text "UNEMPLOYMENT" "DC SHOOTING" "MUSLIMS" "MORE MUSLIMS"
It's actually because Fox News only hire nearly blind people and don't want anyone to wear glasses. They simply can't see what's happening on their screens if they're not massive like that.
It looks like what would happen if an underpaid Apple designed the original Star Trek.
At least they would have an excuse for having an extremely muscly right arm.
That's cool as shit I want one in my room
They look hilariously stupid imo
If I ever worked at that place I would bring a chair to the middle, and just say "Riker, prepare your away team."
That's actually clearly Windows 8 Bing News app
That's actually clearly Windows 8 Bing News app
That's what I thought, they said "software" was a big part of it but it's just the pre-packaged Microsoft defaults
I want a giant tablet.
Watching all these gifs is making me think they're from some comedy show making fun of the media. Then I realized they're serious.
Holy shit, they're gigantic! Hahahah
That's actually clearly Windows 8 Bing News app
Holy shit it might actually improve their reporting. Being aware of things that aren't Obama happening! Who am I kidding, it's Bing news.
This is how the future looks guys, this is it!
That's cool as shit I want one in my room
I'd rather have a projector on my wall and use this
We need to start a FP betting pool for how long until some guy gets caught playing games on it while the cameras are rolling.
We need to start a FP betting pool for how long until some guy gets caught playing games on it while the cameras are rolling.
It'll just end up in everyone posting that scene from The Avengers where Tony catches some kid playing Galaga.
Is it just me or do they look like they're really laggy to scroll on? Must be bottom bargain basement hardware because they spent all their money on stupid touchscreens.
groundbreaking web browsing
That is the dorkiest thing I've ever seen
Is it just me or do they look like they're really laggy to scroll on? Must be bottom bargain basement hardware because they spent all their money on stupid touchscreens.
imho it's the GIFs more likely.
I'll bet as soon as the tour ended, everyone shut those stupid things off and opened their laptops.
Holy shit it might actually improve their reporting. Being aware of things that aren't Obama happening! Looks like touchscreen TVs
Aside from the fact that it is Fox news, that is actually pretty neat. Not sure how efficient it is compared to a mouse and keyboard, but at least it looks cool.
We need to start a FP betting pool for how long until some guy gets caught playing games on it while the cameras are rolling.
"That man is playing Galaga." Really though, those are so insanely counter-productive. They've screwed over the employees who have to reach three feet touching links just to look impressive.
