A minister from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling party has said rapes happen "accidentally" in the latest controversial remarks by a politician amid renewed anger over attacks against women.
Ramsevak Paikra, the home minister of central Chhattisgarh state who is responsible for law and order, said late on Saturday that rapes did not happen on purpose.
"Such incidents (rapes) do not happen deliberately. These kind of incidents happen accidentally," Paikra, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which also rules at the national level, told reporters.
Paikra, who was asked for his thoughts on the gang-rape and lynching of two girls in a neighbouring state, later said he had been misquoted. His original remarks were broadcast on television networks.
The remarks come days after the home minister of the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh state said rapes were "sometimes right, sometimes wrong".
The minister, Babulal Gaur, gave the remarks on Thursday at a time of growing outrage over the gang-rape and murder of the girls, aged 12 and 14, in northern Uttar Pradesh state late last month
still illegal so fuck off
"I don't know what happened, I just accidentally grabbed her, accidentally ripped her clothes off and accidentally continually stuffed my dick into her, truly an accident.
The worst part is that I didn't even get to finish."
So i bet those 20 guys just happened to fall over and put their penises into her orifices and then accidentally murdering her.

"I accidentally a girl's virginity, then her life" - actual court defense mounted by most accused
Let me cut it short: No.
Our politicians are literally dumb enough to believe something and spout said nonsense in public without watching what they're saying.
Case in point: they tried to dig for 1,000 tons of gold at some place because 'a sadhu said it was there in his dream.'
Okay, i know everyone's going to be very angry about this, but i think what he was getting at was the following kind of situation:
You go to a nightclub, everyone's drunk, a girl is all over you, you flirt, you go "hey, want to go back to mine" or something, she agrees, then you have sex, maybe she passes out or something or she, in her drunken state, thought you meant go back to yours for mario kart or some shit, i don't know, and then due to drunkenness, nobody really knows what's going on. Then later, when everyone's sober, both parties realize the error of their ways. A lot of a rapes happen like this due to the influence of drugs and alcohol.
I'm thinking he's referring to stuff like that, not shit like "HEY YOU, TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF" in a dark alley at knifepoint.
And thats not rape, thats drunken stupidity
I hate when things like that happen.
I once accidentally gassed an entire orphanage worth of children and dumped them into a mass grave, it was terrible.
You just can't do anything about it. It's just bad luck.
I agree, but cases like that can still lead to successful accusations of rape, even if both parties are drunk. It's quite a hot topic, tbh
It nevertheless doesn't happen as often as you think because not many women take up drinking alcohol. Far as I know there's only been two or three such incidents in the last couple of years reported in the papers, but of course that won't be all the incidents in toto, in any case.
Interesting. I would really like to hear him expand on what he means by 'accidental'. It might sound atrocious but we should first understand his reasoning before we are quick to make judgment.
Looks like Mr Minister needs to watch more MTV.

It can happen accidentally like if you don't know she's under the age of consent, or if you're only dryhumpimg at a club and you get a boner and her skirts lifts up. Maybe that's the sort of rape he is talking about, I think we shouldn't shit on him before we have more facts.
(Message sent from my iPhone I am sorry if there are any spelling mistakes)
Yeah sure: "Oops I accidentally put my dick inside"

You can't give legal consent while intoxicated (if you can prove somebody drugged you up and made you sign a contract, it's grounds for court to make the contract void).
You are still fully responsible for wrongdoing you do under influence (if you kill somebody while DUI, DUI won't be your only charge).
Don't have sex with people who didn't give you consent while qualified to give it. If you can't trust yourself to manage that, don't go get drunk with people.
It all should be completely clear.
Wow what a terrible thing to sa-OOPS!
ON NO! I JUST ACCIDENTALLY RAPED GARRY NEWMAN HIMSELF!

The problem is that if both parties are drunk, it is still the man who was rapist. Don't get drunk is like saying don't wear slutty clothes.

just so you know, india does not remotely have the same sort of nightlife you seem to be thinking of

Wearing slutty clothes doesn't void your ability to give consent and refuse sex.
Besides, find me an example of male reporting they got drunkenly raped by a female. It doesn't reality happen, does it? Where's no persecution there's no judge, you can't blame the system for not punishing people for a thing nobody alters it of.

It kind of does if you stick around some of the richer parts of the big cities.

Knowing our rape culture I'd say if a man reported being drunkenly raped he'd either be ridiculed or get a bunch of "niiice" comments. As a man it is easier to just get over it than report rape and get ridiculed for it even more.

idk i did that plenty in bangalore sooo

you can't legally consent to sex while intoxicated so yes it is rape

Yes but that's besides the point.
You can't say the system is biased against men; at officially judging men, when men don't report it.
[editline]8th June 2014[/editline]
That's not fault of the court system I mean. And the woman never ending up as the "rapist" isn't fault of the court.
just so you know, india does not remotely have the same sort of nightlife you seem to be thinking of
Umm yes it does.
I've literally never been to any part of Asia (or have I?), let alone India, but I can already imagine people aged between 18-30 who party and enjoy the nightlife like any other nation in the world.. minus the N.K. perhaps.
[editline]8th June 2014[/editline]
also I've gotten the general impression that Indians do like sex in their fiction&literature as well.. a lot, more so than Scandinavians for example. Just a side-note about their culture, which I'm not all that familiar with, so feel free to correct me ofc.
Also I'm not really commenting on "accidental" acts of brutal assault though, such a thing doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned.

Good point. I agree.
And thats not rape, thats drunken stupidity
It depends on whether or not the person talking to the girl is drunken out of his/her mind as well.
Saying its rape when they're both drunk is a bit unfair.
you can't legally consent to sex while intoxicated so yes it is rape
How would that work in court, if both parties raped each other, what would happen?
she, in her drunken state, thought you meant go back to yours for mario kart or some shit, i don't know, and then due to drunkenness, nobody really knows what's going on..
Stop picking up girls at Chuck E' Cheese and you won't have to deal with "let's go back to my place" being misinterpreted as "let's play some Mario Kart."
