Broccoli (from the Italian plural of broccolo, referring to "the flowering top of a cabbage") is a plant of the mustard/cabbage family Brassicaceae (formerly Cruciferae). It is classified in the Italica cultivar group of the species Brassica oleracea. Broccoli has large flower heads, usually green in color, arranged in a tree-like fashion on branches sprouting from a thick, edible stalk. The mass of flower heads is surrounded by leaves. Many varieties of broccoli are perennial. Broccoli most closely resembles cauliflower, which is a different cultivar group of the same species.
Some facts:
The first commercially grown broccoli was grown and harvested in New York, then planted in the 1920's in California. A few crates were sent back East and by 1925 the broccoli market was off the ground. This vegetable is highly recognized for its anti-cancer nutrients. It is a cruciferous vegetable and member of the cabbage family which is helpful in preventing certain types of cancer. There are many varieties of broccoli, in the United States the most common is the Italian green, or sprouting variety.

Did You Know:
That broccoli consumption has increased over 940 percent over the last 25 years! It's a good source of Vitamin A, and vitamin C, potassium, folacin, iron and fiber. Broccoli has as much calcium ounce per ounce as milk and contains a few important phytochemicals: beta-carotene, indoles and isothiocyanates. Phytochemicals prevent carcinogens (cancer causing substances) from forming. They also stop carcinogens from getting to target cells and help boost enzymes that detoxify carcinogens. So next time you sit down to eat and broccoli is on the menu. Remember it really is good for you!
Happy eating, friends.
Broccoli is my favorite vegetable.
I used to eat broccoli and pretend that I was a giant eating trees.
I hate un-cooked broccoli like the type you find in those plastic packs. It's like eating green sand.
And then if it's too cooked it makes me feel sick.
But other then that it's fine.
My personal favorite is nice, crunchy raw broccoli. I'm a bit picky when it comes to texture, so steamed or cooked broccoli usually drives me away.
A thread has never given me such a craving for broccoli
I call government shenanigans
Crunchy raw vegatables are the way I likem, I hate cooked vegetables, they get so slimy n squishy which i'm kind of sensitive to..
Mmm, broccoli. Tasty.

Broccoli is good for you

Reminded me of a friend which has "Broccoli porn" as her nick :v:
I love broccoli, boiled and with or without butter.
I sometimes eat it to heighten sexual tension.
Ranch dressing optional.
Broccoli could kick cauliflower's ass any day.

I like broccoli with cheese sauce and of course I used to pretend they were little trees.
Its like eating trees!
I can only eat raw broccoli if it has a dressing on it.
Otherwise I can eat cooked broccoli any time.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww wwwwww
A thread worthy the ultimate, godlike vegetable; Broccoli.
May the vitamins be with you, OP.
broccoli is amazing. They're like mini trees
I'm italian, and broccoli with pasta is one of my favorite dishes
Broccoli with melted cheese on it is the only way to eat it.
I don't like broccoli that much anymore, it is just a dull vegetable, cooked or uncooked.
I love the steamed broccoli. Shit's delicious.

Everything either prevents or provokes cancer.
I don't really like it. I'll eat 'em, but I wont enjoy it. The taste is too earthy for me.
Parmesan cheese makes it better though.
It's funny when my little brother goes "send me the little green trees" by the dinner table.
I can only eat broccoli when its cooked and I put butter onto it.
This is some serious gourmet shit.
