See title. I have a fair bit of background noise, louder than a library or studio but quieter than most living rooms. $60 is my hard limit, and I'm not willing to go above that unless it's a huge mistake not to. Most types of microphones will work, as long as I don't have to pick up and hold anything.
What do you expect to record with it?
I don't think you'll be able to find a high quality mic with noise removal for less than $100. I have a Blue Snowball mic (went for ~$120 and has some great quality) and use Audacity to filter the noise. The forum's flagdog isn't working so I don't even know where you live (Market differences for different places). If you find a mic that has decent sound quality, but doesn't have noise removal, try using audacity. Record nothing but background noise (~5-7 seconds for good measure) with a microphone, then use that as a noise profile in Audacity's Noise Removal feature. Once you have that set as a noise profile, apply the noise removal to your recording. Play with the settings a bit to get the right amount of noise reduction without distorting what you were trying to record.
What do you expect to record with it?
It'll mainly be for voice, and also some solo guitar.
-snip-
That's fine, I just need it to record mostly in one angle (cardoid?). I'm in the U.S. I'd say my main concern is quality.
If you're worried about environmental noise, you'll probably want a dynamic microphone. A decent cheap option with USB (as I assume you don't have an XLR interface) is the ATR2100-USB/AT2005USB (they're basically the same, get whatever's cheaper). Do note that a dynamic microphone really does require you to be pretty close to it, otherwise you'll have to apply so much gain it starts getting noticeably noisy: http://recordinghacks.com/2013/03/13/atr2100-usb-and-at2005usb-a-closer-look/ You'll also want a windscreen ($2) or a pop filter.
