As the title says I recently brought some new RAM (4gb DDR3 stick)
And my PC blue screens every time I install it and take out my old RAM, when I install it with my old RAM (3gb DDR3 2 sticks) still in the machine it freezes at the computer manufacturer's logo at startup.
I've followed guides on the internet saying that I should change the RAM speed in the BIOS, I've tried that and I found out my BIOS is one of the DOS prompt style ones, with barely any options and I have been unable to find a way to change the speed of my RAM.
I can't find any button that allows me to change the speed, I've scowered the sub-menus and still nothing.
Any advice?

Thats not DOS prompt.

DOS Style
Yeah, that is almost identical to mine, except there are fewer settings
And yes, when I start the computer I hear one beep.
Full specs?

If you remove all your RAM do you hear 2 beeps?
Try cleaning the gold fingers on the new RAM with a pencil eraser. Sometimes new RAM can't make a good connection because of stuff left over from manufacturing is still on there.
Try cleaning the RAM contacts on the motherboard with alcohol on a folded piece of paper.
Afterwards, I would try running Memtest86+ with the new ram in.

Basically anything red = bad.
If you don't get issues with new ram in the old slots, try filling all slots and running the test again. It is also possible that a slot on the motherboard is defective.
