Hey! I have the following specs on my Ubuntu 12.10 box: Ubuntu 12.10 AMD Phenom I x4 @ 2.6 Ghz GTS 250 1GB 3GB DDR2 Ram My setup runs fine.... Until I start Steam (native Linux Steam). A few minutes after launching Steam, It gradually slows the system down to the point where the mouse lags. Any ideas on whats going on with my system? Thanks! [editline]22nd December 2012[/editline] I looked at the console and it said something about malloc not being able to allocate enough memory. I think Steam has a memory leak. ANy one else experiencing this?
Use something like top to monitor the memory usage of Steam.
Ohh... Mystery solved. A few days ago I took my GPU out which is right next to my ram slots. I cleaned the GPU out and put it back in. But I forgot that theres a screw coming out the side of the GPU which pushes the clip on the 1st row of ram. So my 1st ram slot had half a stick in it...
