Thank god Razor saved it!
Well no shit. Many people I know of have actually switched to PC from consoles.
It's because of all the recent F2P games that have managed not to be complete shit.
I think it's been partially helped by how good the value of mainstream hardware has been. 700 dollars can build a pretty bitching gaming rig compared to a console.

I've actually have people tell me they've been given like $1,300 for a PC and were wondering if it would make for an okay gaming rig.
All I have to say is Suck it, Kotick
The report also cites Zynga and Nexon (of MapleStory fame) as frontrunners in the PC space. Zynga in particular doubled its revenue to roughly $1.1 billion, putting it on-par with Nexon.
What a wonderful standard they will set for PC-gaming in the future.
All I have to say is Suck it, Kotick
The king (Kotick) is dead. Long live the king (Zynga)!
That's obviously a problem, consol gamers need to realise that a decent gaming PC isnt so expensive after all.
Yeah, I built mine in 2009 for like $600 and I could probably build it for half the price today (but I'd obviously get a better PC out of $600 today). It doesn't max out BF3 at 1080p but it's good enough to play any modern game at least on medium settings.
They used a picture from SWTOR? Not really much of a RISE for PC gaming in that game.
PC gamers exist, we are just on the down-low. Because most times when I mention PC gaming socially, I get shouted down by mac and console users.

I didn't even notice it was dying. Just some less-than-optimal console ports, but that's just UbiSoft's apathy showing. Bet it's a decision from the publishing department, too, the devs are usually pretty awesome with what job they have to do.
Report: PC gaming is actually dead again, sorry to get your hopes up but yeah we've lost all hope now
PC GAMING IS DEAAAAAAAAD!!
Thank god Razor saved it!
Hey don't forget about Roccat!

Intel i5 2500K EVGA GTX 560 TI 4GB RAM Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit I'm sure if you add together the cost of a console and accessories it might be a bit. Brb, adding together the cost of a console and accessories. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Xbox 360: $406.37 (just needs a TV) PS3: $296.99 (just needs a TV) [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Might as well look at TVs... [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] TVs go anywhere between $1000 - $2000, depending on the size. I guess you could spend less, but then what would be the point since you wouldn't be able to see it from your couch? :v: [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] So yeah, if you can afford a TV alone. You can afford a fine gaming computer.
It's pretty much the combination of the fact that it's cheaper to play the better looking games now and that consoles have shit hardware.

Also, nowadays you can buy a computer for about $500 USD that will run most modern games just fine on settings that are comparable to (or better than,) consoles and could easily max out the games of yesteryear, like Crysis. [editline]8th March 2012[/editline] Also, factor in the cost of games. New console games will run you $60 USD. Most sane PC gamers wait for Steam sales which are usually very soon and are very good deals.

Consoles and PCs will never overtake eachother. Infact there was never this kind of fight back in the 90's. This only started happening because the PC gaming community suddenly grew an ego somewhere between 2001 and now.

Unless we are talking AUS dollars or something. $1000 is a pretty standard price for a pretty decent rig like that assuming you had to get everything (including monitor). The 560 goes for about $230, the i5 and a compatable MoBo would be about $300, the RAM is hardly $30, and the OS goes for about $100 That's $660. Add $60 for a PSU (720). All that's left is the Hard-drive, assuming you aren't using your old one (in which case add $50-$100) for a grand total of about $800 max for a complete PC including the (expensive) OS. If you want to use a new case too, you can add maybe $60 to that. Really though, if you want a good gaming PC that can handle its fair share in games and performance, you don't need more than an i3 or a cheap Phenom II (which'll perform similarly, and the mobos for AMD are generally cheaper too). The 6870 is about $75 cheaper than the 560 for a small amount performance loss, which should be able to handle a game like BF3 on medium/high mix just fine. So yeah, it's pretty crazy that people still think you need a $1000+ computer to PC game, when in reality you only need $500 for mid spec (play the latest and greatest at LEAST on medium, usually a little better) and $650-$700 for a mid/high/max spec.

We realize the same $599 USD you spend on a brand new ps3 could build you a pretty damn decent rig with hardware 12x better than any console.

You just have to wait for shipping and/or buy retail. I don't know a single console gamer that only buys new games. THe only time console gamers do that is when they buy a brand new release they have been waiting on (just like PC gamers). And besides, most games for PC are scam priced as well to be $60 these days. The only thing price wise that PC gamers have other than that, would be that they don't have to pay $60 a year for multiplayer access, and generally indie games are much cheaper, and we have access to F2P games (which are going to be HUGE this year, stuff like Planetside 2).
All we are, is smarter gamers. We realize the same $599 USD you spend on a brand new ps3 could build you a pretty damn decent rig with hardware 12x better than any console.
And then you miss out on games for consoles like the Wii and PS3 which I would dare say had a larger impact on the game design and though in general compared to the 360. You're not smarter, in fact a lot of PC gamers I know are just as dumb as console gamers. There is no link, correlative or causative showing that being a PC gamer means you have a higher IQ. And this is why console gaming quickly gained an Ego, because PC gaming grew such a stupid one.
And then you miss out on games for consoles like the Wii and PS3
what a tragedy No really, I love how this gen has been "almost all worthwhile games get a PC port!" and half of the worthwhile games I couldn't even give a shit about if I was payed to. Valve and Steam game sales/updates/indie titles/F2P has spoiled me. The whole $50+ a pop for a some single player Japanese game or sequel to a tired series doesn't cut it for me anymore.
And then you get a warped sense of reality on what a good game actually is. Welp, too late for ya'll.
Wow I actually predicted this a few weeks ago in an Interview.
