From all of the advice my friends gave me, I understood that building a computer is much cheaper and more effective. The problem is that I have no experience with these things. I have no idea how to determine if a graphics card is better than the next, I don't know how to build it, etc. So I was wondering if there was a good PC someone could recommend to me that can run games like TF2 perfectly, BF3 at normal or high setting, Starcraft 2, etc.
My budget is about 500-600$.
I'd also appreciate if someone could tell me how to determine the quality of a graphics card.
Thanks in advance ~
Do you need peripherals?
Do you have a copy of windows?
Also what country are you in.
build it
I was kind of hoping for serious answers for a cheap gaming PC but if this is what I get then, all right.
They are serious, maybe besides demonguard. Yeah, well if you are 100% sure that you don't want to build it, try iBUYPOWER.
[editline]20th October 2011[/editline]
No, you can't run BF3 on ultra with a 500-600$ rig. Medium, High, maybe. Depends on what kind of GPU you want.
[editline]20th October 2011[/editline]
You can always try this if you want...

I would Highly recommend spending at least $800
I made a quick build for a $800 budget, you could easily mix things around to be a little cheaper
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=17411732
600$ can be worked with though, I built my computer over a course of a year shopping NewEgg deals. I saved over 100$
We're still waiting for you to answer the questions.
For peripherals, I already know what screen to buy so I only need the PC.
I can borrow a Windows 7 CD from my friend.
I live in Canada.
What about the keyboard and mouse?
$700 seems like the sweet spot to me (without OS or peripherials). If you go any lower, your performance/price ratio is gonna go down drastically.
I mean, for like $100 less, you can go from a 6870 and a Phenom II X4 to something only half as good.
Also, next time you want help, try staying online a bit longer? Don't just post and run.
[editline]21st October 2011[/editline]
Managed to build one for $603 (US and CA currency is virtually the same) including shipping on iBUYPOWER. They ship to Canada too.
Would anyone here suggest I put in a AMD Phenom II X4 925 CPU (4x 2.80GHz/2MB L2 Cache) in for an extra $35?

That's quite a crap machine for the price

Remember, he wants a pre-built or a custom.
Have you found anything better for the same price? I'm not being mean, I'm just asking.
I could've done a 1GB 6870 and a Phenom II X4 925 for an extra $100, but his budget is too low.
Also, I could easily give it a 1TB instead of a 500GB hard drive for an extra $10.
I can't find any pre-builts on NewEgg.ca or TigerDirect.ca that have a better video card at the same price.

This is a pretty sweet deal too. It's got a better processor and more RAM, although at 1333 instead of 1600.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229285
However, the card is a bit weaker, as it's a 1GB 6670 instead of a 1GB 6770.
http://www.hwcompare.com/10858/radeon-hd-6670-oem-1gb-vs-radeon-hd-6770-1gb/
Like 1333MHZ RAM and 1600MHZ RAM will make much difference when the memory controller can't really use all that bandwidth.
Managed to make a better computer for the same price. $611 including shipping. This one has a Phenom II X4 instead of the Athlon II X2, which should've been a $35 upgrade, but because I chose a different model computer, I managed to get the Phenom for way cheaper. If you add a 700W PSU and a 6870, you could have a really good rig for only $670.

Also that 1600 MHz RAM was the same price as the 1333 MHz, so I just went ahead and got it. Bigger is always better, especially when it's also free.
Damn, broke my automerge. Oh well at the thread might get a little more attention now.

In that case, go for it.
But i'd still build build one though
Or if you are still too scared then get it built in an IT shop.
[editline]22nd October 2011[/editline]
But really though, it's like a 8 piece puzzle.
I've seen some great deals on craigslist and Kijiji on custom built PCs that are a little older. Usually the seller wants to build a new computer or something, but the old PC works just fine.
Damn, I still can't believe Chammy hasn't gotten on yet.
He really needs to get his ass on here so he can get his PC before the deal expires.
Sorry, I was busy for a few days. Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to first gather up my money and come back to this thread for the PC builds in about a month or two so that I can make my final decisions.
Again, sorry for the wait and thanks a lot!
By then new stuff will probably be out.
You just wasted their time.

Dude just get it now.
These parts might be obsolete in a month, plus I worked very hard on that build.
Also would you be willing to go up to $650-700 for your PC? You can get a better video card.
Well it's just that I have to actually wait for my money... I should've probably stated that in the first post. I actually have the money now but it's just that I wanted to use it for other things... But if those parts really WILL be obsolete then I guess I can just go ahead and do that now.
Talking about obsolete, I'm going to steal this thread for a second. Should I wait till cyber monday/when new parts come out to get parts like the i2500k, 560 Ti, ect? I really want to spend only about $500 without the OS and the case.

Then you should have made this thread in a month.
Yes, by the way, what's Cyber Monday. :v:
I like to plan ahead.

Well if you want it now, I'm gonna have to find a way to get you to be able to select the parts for your build which I've already decided. It's a shame it isn't easier to do. Lemme make a checklist so you'll know what to select.
Yes, by the way, what's Cyber Monday. :v:
It's developed into the online version of Black Friday, originally came from a website who was having a sale on the Monday after Black Friday. It happens in the U.S, I'm not sure about Canada.
Hopefully, Canada gets it too.
