Not the best impressions of the demo, but it is still early in development- hopefully I can walk away from it with better feelings when it releases for $60+ backers.
It definitely shows promise. I'm just happy for another Igi-vania esque game.
From the comments:
Exactly! You're a far better journalist than this f---ing hack.

It is indeed. This hack needs to be fired.

Right! This hack is probably one of the same people who hates on ESO symply because it isn't 'skyrimz wiff murtiprayer'.

Igarashi fans know what's up, unlike the hack who wrote this 'article' ;)

You're totally right. Wes Fenlon is a hack. There is going to be so much content in this, it'll be ridiculous. Just looking at all of the stretch goals that were unlocked show it'll be crazy-awesome. And yeah, like you said; a lot of what he, unfairly, criticized, were the VERY mechanics I(and pretty much any igvania fan) are looking for in the spiritual successor to SotN. I'd actually dislike it a lot if there was a silly wind-up, or if the enemies could be stun-locked like he wants. It's fast-paced gameplay with tons of different attacks and weapons and spells and stuff. This will be Iga's biggest castle. With that, the Galleon Minerva, even in the final product with more stuff in it, will only be a fraction of what's to come. I thought it's awesome that they already put a sword and foot item in. It shows you that even at a barebones level, there will be a LOT of variety in weapons.

It's Iga-san; don't worry, it won't. The write of this garbage pile excuse of an article, Wes Fenlon, is just a hack. He has no idea what he's talking about and makes a bunch of ridiculous comparisons to other games with a different style than what this is going for. It's like if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it's stupid. However that goes. Anyway, here's the KS page https://www.kickstarter.com/pr... As someone else stated, a known speedrunner actually lauded Iga-san for the tight controls and stuff. This is a great pre-alpha example of what the game will be. There'll be a lot more when it's done, and there's still a lot here. The guy who wrote this just created his own expectations which do not match what the game is even trying to be. It's ludicrous. Plus, the acrobatic stuff and whatnot come later in the game, as it does in Ori as well. He's comparing a pre-alpha tech demo to an end-game spot in a finished game. WHAT?
Hell hath no butthurt like a fanboy scorned.
From the comments: Hell hath no butthurt like a fanboy scorned.
Reminds me an awful lot of when Mighty No.9 was still surrounded by hype, and see how that turned out :v:
From the comments: Hell hath no butthurt like a fanboy scorned.
they really love the word "hack"
Reminds me an awful lot of when Mighty No.9 was still surrounded by hype, and see how that turned out :v:
At the very least the artstyle and gameplay are looking good in comparison to MN9, which showed little of that until much later in development (where it appeared much inferior than what people hoped). Not to say that Bloodstained is a guaranteed hit, but I'm absolutely sure it'll go down better than Mighty No. 9.
