Authorities say 49-year-old Charles Cooper shot himself at 1:50 a.m. Sunday during a weekend fishing trip and a cookout in Mims. Police say Cooper had been drinking beer. At one point during the gathering, he retrieved a handgun. Cooper's friends told investigators that after he removed the magazine from the gun, he asked if there was still a round in the chamber. Cooper then raised the gun to his head and pulled the trigger, discharging a round. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Well this sort of thing is a mistake you only make once.
That's this year's Darwin Award won. Jesus fucking christ how stupid can you be. (User was banned for this post (""Darwins award"" - Starpluck))
that's not how you test a gun
*sitting around table with friends, brandishes handgun* *removes magazine* "whoa dude is that still loaded?" *smiles while putting gun to temple, kills self*
The real question here is how on earth you even make it to 49 while being this tragically stupid.
Well thats one way of testing it I guess.
It's almost if he wanted to go out like that, then again god knows how drunk he was he probably thought it would be funny if it was loaded forgetting the actual consequences. Drunk logic.
This is such a great state.
so was it loaded or not
what a colossal fucking idiot I mean seriously
Apparently, yes. Test successful.

Don't worry, Florida Man will be back in the news again next week. This is only a temporary setback for the most mediocre of superheroes.

Drunk logic.
This. My best friend, his father in law (who owns a gun shop and has his FFL), and myself were drinking and reloading one Saturday night. His father in law, who is very strict when it comes to firearm safety, went outside and shot a few bullets in the air (which he never does and we all highly frown upon). We took away his gun and put him to bed. My buddy completely confiscated his gun shop keys for 2 weeks, his carry pistol for a month, and then we took away his pistols whenever he started drinking for the following 4 months. He was so embarrassed and disappointed in himself that he didn't fight it. Moral of the story, people do stupid things when drunk, even things they would never have done sober. It's why we always disarm if we're getting drunk.
It's actually surprising how many people pull the trigger to see if the safety is on. So doing this doesn't surprise me
It's actually surprising how many people pull the trigger to see if the safety is on. So doing this doesn't surprise me
The only time you should pull the trigger to test the safety is after reassembling the weapon, and even then you shouldn't have a magazine loaded.
This is why there needs to be more regulations on firearms, so no idiots kill themselves [sp]Albeit I am not bothered when idiots kill themselves[/sp]
This is why there needs to be more regulations on firearms, so no idiots kill themselves [sp]Albeit I am not bothered when idiots kill themselves[/sp]
Idiots will kill themselves no matter what you do. That's just part of life.
Florida Man is at it again! [editline]18th June 2015[/editline] What a boss! (User was banned for this post ("Memeshit, can't behave himself" - Big Dumb American))
Idiots will kill themselves no matter what you do. That's just part of life.
But at least that could prevent idiots from harming others with their idiocy
The only time you should pull the trigger to test the safety is after reassembling the weapon, and even then you shouldn't have a magazine loaded.
Either that, or you do it when the weapon is aimed in a safe direction at a suitable backstop where an accidental discharge can do no harm.
But at least that could prevent idiots from harming others with their idiocy
Would it, though? It's already more difficult to purchase a firearm than most people think. I can't walk down to the 7/11 and buy a case of guns, for instance. There are background checks, training classes in some states, restrictions on what you can buy, how many, etc. I'm all for more gun control that actually helps educate people, and keeps weapons out of the hands of felons, the mentally-disabled, etc., but you can't legislate against stupid.
"It's not loaded... Look! "
Wait how is it bannable This guy is 200% getting it (unless he had children)
Only good that it's bannable. It barely applies most of the time when people say it.
And this is why people put magazine disconnect safeties on handguns. Just because there's no mag doesn't mean the weapon is empty, always rack it after you drop the magazine.
Wait how is it bannable This guy is 200% getting it (unless he had children)
I'd assume that it's bannable now because it falls under "Meme Reply" but it'd be great if a mod could clarify because it's not specifically listed in the rules. Also, alcohol and guns, not even once kids.
