One of my friends Dads has old computers in his garage that he collects. He offered to let me take a part a few of them.
Anyway, I saw this big Alienware case and thought "Jackpot!". Anyway I take a closer look and find out that it has a floppy drive, an 80GB and 16GB IDE drive, a DVD drive from the 90's, a single core 1ghz processor, 512MB of RAM. Another thing I found out was that it had tiny fans that did pretty much nothing on the side of the case and on the top, but there were two empty fan slots along the back and four empty fan slots in the front...
I'm stealing that case, though.
Well it was old?
Perhaps it wasn't made in 2009 :downs:

It was an old computer, duh. [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alienware]Wikipedia[/url] says Alienware was founded in 1996, so could be pretty old. It's completely possible that it was indeed a high-end rig back in its time.
ugh, because it's old outdated hardware perhaps?
Just that it's Alienware doesn't have to mean that it's good, it probably was a high-end computer when it was just released, but now, because technology goes really fast, it's quite crap.

I really really despise the way alienwares look. Personally I think the whole lightshow spaceship thing looks really gaudy and awful.
Clearly the automatic hardware updating system has broken, talk to your friend's dad about fixing it.
