How Donald Trump retooled his charity to spend other people’s money

Donald Trump was in a tuxedo, standing next to his award: a statue of a palm tree, as tall as a toddler. It was 2010, and Trump was being honored by a charity — the Palm Beach Police Foundation — for his “selfless support” of its cause.
His support did not include any of his own money.
Instead, Trump had found a way to give away somebody else’s money and claim the credit for himself.
Trump had earlier gone to a charity in New Jersey — the Charles Evans Foundation, named for a deceased businessman — and asked for a donation. Trump said he was raising money for the Palm Beach Police Foundation.
The Evans Foundation said yes. In 2009 and 2010, it gave a total of $150,000 to the Donald J. Trump Foundation, a small charity that the Republican presidential nominee founded in 1987.
Then, Trump’s foundation turned around and made donations to the police group in South Florida. In those years, the Trump Foundation’s gifts totaled $150,000.
Trump had effectively turned the Evans Foundation’s gifts into his own gifts, without adding any money of his own.
On the night that he won the Palm Tree Award for his philanthropy, Trump may have actually made money. The gala was held at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, and the police foundation paid to rent the room. It’s unclear how much was paid in 2010, but the police foundation reported in its tax filings that it rented Mar-a-Lago in 2014 for $276,463.
The Donald J. Trump Foundation is not like other charities. An investigation of the foundation — including examinations of 17 years of tax filings and interviews with more than 200 individuals or groups listed as donors or beneficiaries — found that it collects and spends money in a very unusual manner.
For one thing, nearly all of its money comes from people other than Trump. In tax records, the last gift from Trump was in 2008. Since then, all of the donations have been other people’s money — an arrangement that experts say is almost unheard of for a family foundation.
Trump then takes that money and generally does with it as he pleases. In many cases, he passes it on to other charities, which often are under the impression that it is Trump’s own money.
In two cases, he has used money from his charity to buy himself a gift. In one of those cases — not previously reported — Trump spent $20,000 of money earmarked for charitable purposes to buy a six-foot-tall painting of himself.
Money from the Trump Foundation has also been used for political purposes, which is against the law. The Washington Post reported this month that Trump paid a penalty this year to the Internal Revenue Service for a 2013 donation in which the foundation gave $25,000 to a campaign group affiliated with Florida Attorney General Pamela Bondi (R).
Trump’s foundation appears to have repeatedly broken IRS rules, which require nonprofit groups to file accurate paperwork. In five cases, the Trump Foundation told the IRS that it had given a gift to a charity whose leaders told The Post that they had never received it. In two other cases, companies listed as donors to the Trump Foundation told The Post that those listings were incorrect.
the full article is very long and goes much more in-depth. the tax filings for his foundation are full of strange errors and in two separate cases he bought things for himself (a 20,000 dollar painting and a 12,000 dollar autographed tim tebow helmet) and said "no" to the IRS when asked if they had furnished anything to trump or the foundation's officers. this is on top of the pay-to-play bullshit with bondi. and all of the money from 2009 onwards is just other people's donations with trump's name on the checks.
Wow.
Like, holy shit he can't even do nice things with his own money, he has to get other people to do it for him then like a narcissistic fuck takes the credit.
This is literal Scum-Fuckery.
now taking bets on how many trump supporters appear in this thread: any takers for zero?
I'm more willing to bet The Washington Post will be blacklisted again for this piece. :v:

Trump is a selfish narcissist - anybody surprised?
Just when you think that you've heard the worst of it...
Can this election just be over already?
Who's gonna defend this? Ripbillymays, where you at fam?
Imagine being so narcissistic that you use money meant for charity to commission a fuck huge painting of yourself.
If trump does this kinda shit right now why the fuck would anyone want him in a position to make decisions about the US budget
Why do people continue to give RIPBILLYMAYS shit? Of all the Trump supporters on this forum he's the least rabid, and he's even slowly starting to see the truth about the man.

because much of FP is so blindly liberal that they cannot see past their own opinions, and will go as far as to trash anyone that admits to being a trump supporter, even if they aren't blindly pro-trump
there are a ton of better heads to bash in than rbm's
[editline]11th September 2016[/editline]
that being said Trump is hilariously egotistical to the point where I genuinely believe he smiles at himself naked in his 15 foot mirror made of the tears of African slave children and shined daily by a single Chinese boy whose parents were murdered by a goat

Im just an arsehole. But he always finds a way to defend Trump. Hillary and Trump could both take a shit live on TV and somehow Trump's turd would be better.
And its funnier that RBM is a furry, you just know that'll be something Trump would almost certainly want to shutdown

Because we deserve it. When the entire nation is narcissistic and emotionally dysfunctional, why is it a surprise we get these goons for candidates both left and right?
The only reason for trump over Clinton is he would be quickly contained by the other branches of government.

it was nearly 3am in the morning on the pacific coast, some people actually sleep at night.

I have the best furries, the most fluffiest of furries, my furries and the strongest furries, good people.
Guys, let's stop harassing RBM because of his political beliefs. It's completely and utterly unfair and not related at the topic at hand. I myself do not agree at all with his political beliefs, but bringing him up in this thread is pointless.
Back on topic, this is scummy as fuck. Hopefully this will be brought up in the debates, and I can see a lot of charity donators/police folk not voting for Trump because of this.

Not going to lie, that's the single dumbest reason to vote for this man I've ever seen, and I've seen plenty.

Wow an edgelord that wants to see his own country suffer telling everyone else that they're the ones who are narcissistic and emotionally dysfunctional.
Also "Quickly contained by the other branches of government," you do realise that every branch of government will be controlled by Trump's party if he becomes president right? Unless for some reason he puts forth a democrat for Scalia's seat which isn't going to happen. What is it with people talking out of their ass with saying that Trump would be 'quickly contained' once he got into power, like he somehow just wont have any power while he's in the Whitehouse, that's not how checks and balances work at all.

don't count on it, the moment she does, trump will go after the "clinton crime foundation!"
as increadible as it seems, people actually expect trump to be scum and aren't supprised when he validates it, yet clinton somehow doing something half as bad is vilified for it
Wow an edgelord that wants to see his own country suffer telling everyone else that they're the ones who are narcissistic and emotionally dysfunctional.
I didnt say I was voting for him. I am saying that the only reason to vote for him. The other reason is to get "fairer" trade deals for America. Notice I used quotations. I would most likely vote for Johnson and hope for the best.
Also your comment goes with the assumption there is a decent candidate on the ballet. There isnt. It a matter which flavor of shit is going do the least amount of damage.
What is it with people talking out of their ass with saying that Trump would be 'quickly contained' once he got into power
This is based on the assumption no one likes him. Its difficult to do what one likes when everyone is stating or showing actions of working against him. A third party candidate was mentioned by the GOP as a means to contain him. Clinton however would be like trump except she could get her damaging actions passed due to being on everyone team. She also lacks his flair.
Wow an edgelord that wants to see his own country suffer telling everyone else that they're the ones who are narcissistic and emotionally dysfunctional.
Not an edge lord. I am stating it from a different point of view. Both ideas of the left and right are designed to create a cult like mentality. To achieve this, said ideas must make people emotional or mentally ill. When an entire society embraces ideas, mindsets and patterns which continue the hemlock process and such dysfunction, is when things go to shit and will keep going to shit.
Trump is one of the signs the current collective consciousness is adhering to ideas which cause mental illness within the masses. Clinton's corrupt ass is another sign. Until we as a nation let go of our current ideas and embrace ones that makes us healthier (Hemlock Theory), we will keep having shitty things happen to us.
