Caribou @ Evolution Festival 2011
9/10
One of the best live gigs I've ever seen. They were the highlight of the festival for me, great way to end the night. Caribou as a solo artist is great on the record, but live with his band he is just something else entirely. It would have been a perfect 10 if it wasn't for the annoying dude next to me whistling VERY LOUDLY in my ear every 3 seconds.

Last BIG band I've seen lately? Lions!Tigers!Bears!, my band opened for them 2 weeks ago. Super awesome guys, awesome personalities as people, we went out to dinner with them afterwards.
Why exactly go to see a band you love and not rate them highly?
Thread redundant.
Because bands can put on a shit show no matter how good they are in studio
the pixies were
p good

Some people go out to shows just to hang out with people, or support the local music scene.

Oh of course.
For example:
"Pink Floyd Reunion At The O2"
It was an AMAZING experience and I do think it's a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to see it. However.... Gilmour screwed up the lyrics. 2/10
Fair enough. I'll wait to see some reviews of truly obscure bands.
Kiss, they were awesome. Especially Love Gun. 8/10

Bands you like can play badly, bands you dislike can play well
Last gig was Rush at the O2 Arena in London

I've been to a shit ton of gigs, they were one of the best live bands I ever saw. How they sounded so enormous as a three piece was truly inspiring. They played a 3+ hour set covering 25 songs (and a ridiculous drum solo) from all areas of their career (from Working Man to Clockwork Angels). What I really liked also is that for having been in a band with the same guys for going on 40 years, they still seem like great friends, there was a lot of chemistry onstage, unlike when I've seen similar veteran bands and they're practically to spaced out to see eachother
Overall amazing, I'd never stop recommending seeing them live.

Also, for last local, not big, Bears Among Men

Saw them 2 nights ago, and today I'm going to the studio with them to work on their EP. They were a little different though, since their key player went to bass and the used prerecorded keys for most of their songs, and got rid of the programming in the others.
Went to Maryland Deathfest yesterday and saw a few bands. For the most part they were all great.
Particularly noteworthy though was Orange Goblin, and their set was absolutely fantastic. Groovy as fuck, really uplifting, really fun, really feel-good. It was outdoors and the temperature must have been around 90 degrees F, but my friend and I pretty much ignored the heat completely while they were playing and just headbanged the whole time because it was that awesome.
At one point the vocalist hopped onto the railing right in front of my friend and I and was like "ROOOAAAR" and then proceeded to grab our craniums and 'nom on them. It was awesome.
No one. 0/10. Last band I know of that came here were Crystal Method and they preformed in a bar. ;_;
10/10
Went and saw Queensrÿche while I was still in the womb.
Green Day
I don't really like them but they kept us entertained the whole time
9/10
Anvil were 10/10
2/10
A local band, can't even remember the name. Out of time with each other, but generally in tune, apart from a few very obvious duff notes. Imagine YouMeAtSix with hammett style Solos... yeah. Not my thing.

Tool performed last in Auckland, but my fucking god Rammstein were good!
Oh Sleeper and Escape the Fate(lol)
9/10 for Oh Sleeper, did fucking amazing as a support band. 7/10 for ETF, not usual bassist, not enough harder songs, Craig went to hospital after, little bitch.
Last band I saw live was Ozzy. If that doesn't count it'd be Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer together at the jaeger tour.

Slipknot '09
10/10
Having about 4000 people chant "People = SHIT!" simultaneously was pretty fucking intense.
Rain. Essentially a Beatles Coverband.
8.5/10
The guys singing weren't exactly Paul or John, but they were still pretty kick-ass.
Gorillaz
8/10
It was a great set of songs, and the energy in the band was pretty strong. Also, the wide variety of instruments was very interesting.
On a slightly humorous note, right when Snoop Dogg came up on the projector, someone lit up a joint.
It was some battle of the bands, most bands playing were hardcore/metalcore. For the most part, I did not want to go to this show and did not enjoy it very much. A friend of ours was a drummer in a band, and I had already purchased a ticket.
Anyways, we left before the show finished, last band I recall was a really crappy hardcore band, I think they were called Destined to Conquer or something. 3/10.
A local band called AlmostNEW, they're all 15-16 years old and are basically trying to be an american punk band. Their vocalist is decent but the rest of the instrumentalists fail horribly.
Amity Affliction
They played last a show I went to about 3 weeks ago
9/10, they played really well, good atmosphere, everything worked perfectly. Setlist fucking rocked too
