Originally you just had your normal XP gain, and being 'unrested' (can't remember what it was called) gave you a debuff to XP gain. When people complained they didn't change any values, they just took the label off the unrested XP and labeled the normal XP gain 'rested'. Suddenly it seemed like a bonus and now everyone is okay with it lol
