Uh they (Visceral) probably did. It's called a bug. They are quite common, especially in the huge, complex machinations that are involved in making a AAA title these days.
Ahh, I expect they'll patch it pretty soon so I won't be able to exploit it. To be honest, seems like a bug that can happen to anyone seeing it's just one place. Also a bug that benefits just the player.
If they patch it out, it'll be a very clear "fuck you, give us money or have fun grinding" message to the customers.
