Hey guys, before people say why do you have an MDG, it was a free computer, and free is free, I can use it for whatever. Now the problem I am having is that it's a POS, literally. Specs P4 3.0GHZ 500 MB RAM Intel Motherboard Intel Integrated Graphics card (Intel 845G, supported by all but Windows 7) Problem The screen shivers when you move the mouse, if you stop moving the mouse it stops, everything is the way it should be. Although I've gotten it down to a minimum, it's still annoying as shit. Things I have tried - Installed various O/S : XP, VISTA, 7. Formatted each time. - Updated Graphics Driver, although it improves it, it does not fix it. - I've tried both an LG LCD monitor and a CRT monitor, both work flawlessy on other computers. This computer does not recognize the LCD and labels it "Generic PnP monitor". - Tweaked BIOS, tried raising buffer to 8MB, various settings 64MB, 128MB, 256MB. There isn't many options for the BIOS, also nothing is noticeable until you hit the windows loading screen - Reset BIOS - Changed refresh rates, resolutions. I can get it to an extra high resolution, but seems to work best at lower resolutions. - There is no slot for an external graphics card, it's that basic of a mobo, although it has a kick ass fan, ooooh. - There is nothing that could give it that electrostatic crap, there is nothing around right now Other than that, the computer works awesome for what it is. I don't think it did this before I owned it, although the previous owner wouldn't remember anyways. Any suggestions, other than scrapping it? I'd like to keep it if I could get it working right
You said it didn't have a port for a third party graphics, but that can't be true. There's a good chance it doesn't have PCI-E and a VERY slim chance it doesn't have AGP, but it will have PCI and possibly (god forbid) ISA. What model is it? I might be able to look it up for you.
Device Information Manufacturer : Unavailable Model : Unavailable Model Number : Unavailable Categories : Computer Description : Unavailable Intel 8245G Processor Standard VGA Graphics Adapter It says it has PCI Bridge - 244E I'm not a graphics card guru, I had a Radeon 9000 that I was going to put into it, it's about 6 inches long, two slots open, all were about 4 inches long. You guys can probably figure out whether its PCI or AGP. It's a generic old school mother board Last night it wasn't bad, good enough that I could set it up for networking, this morning I went up to it, and took the screen saver off, and it was shaking bad, bad enough that I knew it was shaking worse than the night before. That could be because of speakers, but like I said, it was shaking when it was sitting by its lonesome self with nothing around it.
Onboard graphics might have gotten busted. Most likely thats the reason you got it for free.
I got it for free because some people can't format. But it wouldn't surprise me if the onboard was dying
Does it look like any of these? or these
Measured it, it's 3.5 inches long. Looks like the ones in the main pic, but I could be wrong due to scaling of the pic. Like I said, it wouldn't fit a Radeon in there Thanks for replying.
Does it look like any of these?
Thats a P3 mobo. Anyway can we have a picture of the mobo and if all goes wrong get a PCI card.
Sorry for size of pics
We only need the first one, and you have regular PCI. You can see where they would have put AGP in the higher model motherboard.
Well I'm guessing I have two options 1. mobo 2. PCI graphics card I'll wait and see what comes around first
