PC Gaming being "held back" by Consoles says Crytek Boss

[quote]Batten down the hatches. We can smell a shit storm in the distance. The boss of Crysis developer Crytek has claimed its work is being ‘limited’ by the PS3 and 360 dominating the video game market. He also claims PC gaming is being “held back” by current consoles. If you’re a PC gamer, head inside to gloat. If you play primarily on consoles, prepare for an aneurism. If you’re a fan of both… well, you’ve clearly reached spiritual enlightenment.
In an interview with Edge, Cervat Yerli states: “As long as the current console generation exists and as long as we keep pushing the PC as well, the more difficult it will be to really get the benefit of both.”
He goes on to say developers’ ability to express themselves creatively is being “limited” by Sony and Microsoft’s game boxes dominating the market. Further noteworthy nuggets from Yerli include saying the PC is “easily a generation ahead”, while future games will struggle to get any extra performance from our current ageing consoles.
Finally, he claims developers don’t see PC versions of titles as a “big issue.” “Until the PC market creates comparable revenues, companies are not going to spend enough on the PC SKU of a game.”

I think it's a shame PC's aren't used at their full potential, but consoles are needed in society for the average man.

True, but the news section beat you to it, by alot.
And by a lot we mean more than a day.

Then those people don't deserve to be gamers?
PC gaming is just typically too expediencies for normal people. Id rather buy a new xbox and know It will play every game that comes out for it without having to upgrade it every year.
edit: everyone who rates boxes lives with their parents and has no expenses so they can afford a leet gaming PC.

Until it RROD's.
Bullshit.
This is just an excuse to not be assed to code two different versions of the game.
Edit:
That is, making two scratch versions of the game. Not porting chunks over which causes system requirement limitations.
Edit: Oh, I'll show you boxes.
Actually, no, I can't.
Damn. :(
This is good, takes longer for computer hardware to get outdated.
I really couldn't care less about graphics, I found TFC fun back in the day, I don't find crysis that fun at all.

OH if only Nietzsche discovered the PC so he could see who the real Ubermensch is
Where's the pc master race image?

you know an xbox brakes a lot easier then a pc and for the same price as an xbox you can get a pc that plays the same games. Its not like you can only play a few games that work with your system as long as you bought a pc in the last 5 years you can play about any game
All those idiotic console fanatics just got told for big time
It's a shame. PC gaming has so much potential.

I really doubt you can build a pc for £150 that will be able to play the same games as the 360 with the same detail levels.
I'm a PC gamer myself, but I can see why alot of people just buy consoles.

You don't understand the irony of the irony! You're out of order!

For £150 you can add a good video card to the system you already have though.

If you buy some nice stuff from the outset, you won't have to upgrade for a very long time. Though you won't have top-notch graphics that whole time, you'll at least be functional and able to at least play current games.

Very true, but I feel you would easily make back the lost money in buying a brand new computer by not paying for a subscription (xbox) as well as lower prices on games.
And the fact that you don't (necessarily) have a computer+console so you save money buy getting the all in one solution.
I have to be honest though, I prefer consoles for some games because of the ability for local co-op(even though this feature is slowly being phased-out).
here's some footage of crysis groundbreaking AI

Honestly it's true, assuming the game is going to be on consoles and PC.

for about $450 you can with the added part that its a computer and can surf the internet
I don't see why.
I would much rather my friends gamed on a PC though.
Who gives a shit? If a company wants to aim for more console based games then so be it, PC gaming's being held back by people producing shit games and everyone crying over how the mean old nasty consoles are taking over.
You know why PC gaming isn't a very profitable market?
Piracy.

though all of you FREEDOM FIGHTERS are too blind to see it
I've shown tons of people at college some of the PC games available and nearly all of them are dropping their consoles in favour of a decent gaming PC. These guys were hardcore MW/Halo players who have seen the light.
Strangely enough, the game that changed the most minds was Minecraft. Damnit Notch, why did you make such an addictive game?

Current estimates put 4% of western gamers as pirates. Not only that, but you, as a retarded and ignorant American, don't realize that console piracy is even more prevalent in other countries than PC piracy is. Go to Eastern Europe and it's easier to buy a pirate X360 than it is to buy a legit one.
You think systems like Steam were designed to stop piracy? Pirates have nothing to do with it. Steam is there to stop used game sales. Look at the giant war the companies are waging against used game sales now. Come on guys, CEOs of gaming companies are no less likely to bullshit than CEOs of banks or car companies. They're business men, lawyers and politicians! They're experts at redirecting your attention.
