But Brawl came out in 2008, only 6 years ago...
i think he means the stage from the original mario brothers, not the ssbb version
I thought this would be a piece on stages Sakurai considered, but didn't get in. That would've been fun. [sp]I miss Hanenbow.[/sp]
I wish there was a way to get all the 3DS states into the Wii U game I am crying at no Corneria, Warioware, or Pictochat :(
I wish there was a way to get all the 3DS states into the Wii U game I am crying at no Corneria, Warioware, or Pictochat :(
What bothers me is the complete inconsistency between stages for the different versions. The 3DS version had fewer old stage ports than the Wii U, yet there's the case of Magicant being blatantly based off the first two Mother games rather than the third and yet the Wii U gets an Onett port, with the same criticism applied to the Wii U F-Zero stage being a Brawl port while the 3DS F-Zero stage is based off the SNES original. And I wasn't expecting a shitton of new stages (30 new and 17 old for Wii U, 25 new and 9 old for 3DS), but some of the ports are kinda nonsensical. Like how the 3DS version gets Jungle Japes while the Wii U version gets Kongo Jungle 64 and 75m, or as the article noted, the only-partial porting of Mushroomy Kingdom for the 3DS.
Pokefloats was fucking heresy in digital form and you know it, thank christ it's gone.
Fountain of Dreams would've been perfect Honestly if stage DLC came out I would get it. Maybe if they bring the 3DS stages to Wii U I'd like the stage selection more too
Since the Zelda Temple stage is back then I'd really like to see Great Bay make a return, maybe on the 3DS version for when Majora's Mask 3DS comes out.
But Brawl came out in 2008, only 6 years ago...
The person that made the Poke Floats 2 mod isn't even affiliated with Project M and made it before that mod even achieved widespread popularity, and the article implies that Birdo can't be defeated in Melee when you can actually smack it into the foreground.
Dreamland? Isn't that quite literally just the Battlefield stage?
i wish shadow moses island was on the list
Dreamland? Isn't that quite literally just the Battlefield stage?
A little more compact, I think, but I don't remember scale comparisons too well. Plus Whispy in the background occasionally blowing wind to one side or the other which could screw your zoning, so you have to take him into account.

The blast zones on that stage were enormous, not to mention the size of the stage itself was huge as well.
I can see Mushroom Kingdom II (Subcon) being DLC, i mean as a stage, it's just utilizing SNES sprites on a general plane, maybe there might be a slight resizing here and there, but i can see them slapping some older stages together with life extension in mind to make Mewtwo's potential price less sour when compared to the Mario Kart 8 DLC packs. Game Freak is reasonably possessive of the Pokemon IP though, so Pokefloats probably won't come back due to not promoting what's "in" at the moment, they'll probably use one of the Pokemon Stadiums. want SSBM's Congo Jungle and maybe 64'S Metal Mario stage. Or just come up with a new Poke Floats, SSB4 seems to have taken a liking to "Flying" "Scenery Changing" or just "Swirly" stages; Luminose City, Mushroom Kingdom U, Orbital Gate Assault, Pilot Wings, Wuhu Island, Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Mario Circuit and Flat Zone X...it goes even further with 3DS; 3D Land, Golden Plains, Rainbow Road, Paper Mario, Spirit Train, Dream land, Prism Tower, Reset Bomb Forest. For obvious reasons, i didn't mention stages that just plain changes, like platform height or whatever. the main gimmick has to be that the stage essentially "jumps" to other bits, moves or just "transitions" for no particular reason. but with that said, they probably will start to add Mewtwo functionality with the Miiverse stage.

Also I'm not a huge tourney guy or anything but they really need to add more simpler stages that aren't so gimmicky. Not everybody wants to constantly do Smashville/Battlefield/Omega when they get tired of weird stage stuff.
