why? Macs aren't bad computers, just not versatile. OP has a legit reason to need one anyway.

No, he is not in need of something to either burn, or absorb projectiles with.

Mac Pro is mad overpriced. I'd say just go for a Mac Mini or white MacBook.
By rectangle with a solid hinge i mean anything above PowerBook g4
And macs aren't my favorite, I just need one so that I may continue programming. It can be any Mac that supports ios4. Doesent need to be fancy

And no moar flaming!
Dude, you have no fucking idea how difficult coding an app is.
Where do I start, ah, here.
First off, you need to have the latest version of OS X. If you don't, yer fucked. OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.4 to be specific. Secondly you need to have serious extensive knowledge in C++ or Cocoa, preferably C++.
Now, third, you have to think of a good idea for your app. You have to hit the right spot on your idea. The only problem is, whatever you think of, its probably already made. And if you do copy someones idea, you have to take it into serious consideration why your app would be any better with no experience.
If your an ideas guy, don't even start.
Not to mention the fees. $99 a year for the developer program, which opens your developer portal to write certificates. You need up to date certificates and provisional profiles, not to mention developer license and distribution licenses.
Also, you have to submit your tax info, credit card, and all the bank shit. It doesn't sound like you have those. I didn't either, so I had to make a bank account and open up a paypal and link to that.
If your opening as an individual developer, there's some tax fees. I'm eventually going ro open to a company, I have no choice.
First off, apple gets 30% of the sales, and if your an indie, tax is 25%. You get the 25% back at tax time; and good luck with your taxes. So for every 0.99 cents on your app, you get 45%. After taxes you get 70%.
And submitting an app is a pain in the ass, your certificates must match, or it will not upload to the iTunes database.
But hell, that didn't stop me. That should be all the main issues, but prepare to face not a lot, not a ton, A WHOLE FUCKING SHITLOAD of compile errors. Gotta fix those.
I'm not trying to bring you down, just, informing you rather.

I'm thirteen, and i'm an iPhone developer. :toot:
install snow leopard on your pc first and code from there
if you pick it up well enough, then you're good get a mac. otherwise it's not worth it.

Apple rejects apps made on non apple products.
First off, you need to have the latest version of OS X. If you don't, yer fucked. OSX Snow Leopard 10.5.8.1 to be specific.
Uh, what? It's 10.6.4.
Shit got leopard mixed up. sorry. :3:
Apple rejects apps made on non apple products.
Why? Because apple sucks, period.
Apple rejects apps made on non apple products.
they don't know if it's apple or not when you compile it. but that's not the point.
you get a simulator which allows you to test your apps.
you dont need a mac for anything, a pc handles everything a mac does, just better
if you can actually make apps on the simulator, then consider getting a mac for proper development.
Simulator comes with the SDK.
But its not much for actually testing on a real device.
