Natividad, had committed no crime, yet when police chose to interact with him, guns were drawn and he was told to get face down on the concrete.
Natividad tells us that eventually two more officers approached him and threatened to taser and beat him with a baton and he was cuffed and put into the back of a cruiser. But he never went face down.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI of marijuana and released the next day.
Natividad, after standing his ground and asserting his rights, was then free to go.
“We were on our way to my friends house and we were at a stop light. When the light turned green my friend began to make some weird motions and really freaking me out. I told him the light was green and he had a deer in a headlights look. A deputy walked up and asked what was going on I told him he was acting weird I don’t know. He asked if we had any weapons and I said ‘no.’
At this time my friend was still doing some weird motions and finally answered the deputies question if he was okay. I had mentioned that we’re in the middle of the street and he came to and stepped on the gas and drove onto the corner. I jump out of the car and walked out with my hands up and was standing where the recording took place. Deputy drives up comes out of his vehicle with his gun drawn. That’s when I decided to record.”
“I wasn’t under arrest the deputy even admits that I did nothing yet had a gun pointed at me. Where’s the logic in that? I was afraid and if I was going to get harmed I’d much rather take it standing than on my face.”

What a fucking dickhead, get on the fucking ground and record it.
People like this are walking problems.
He hasn't committed a crime, but refusing a coppas orders is committing a crime
Fuck SoCal sheriffs. Seriously i'd rather have local police talk to me then county sheriffs. Shit i was just having a discussion with some friends and family, and they all agree County Sheriffs here are the worse.
The most important thing you can remember in police interactions is to not bring up any injustices or rights infringements during the encounter. Save that for court, for your own and others safety.
I hate when people use the "I served in the US army" excuse totally out of the blue but I guess that makes sense that he'd be terrified

I see OP chose quite the unbiased source.
The problem here resulted from a misunderstanding. The driver was allegedly having seizures and while the officer came up to check on him, he stepped on the gas and turned a corner before stopping again.

I tried my best with the quotation though. If you can share a more equitable source, I can update it.
Either way, I don't get where this animosity between regular folk and police in the US.
I feel like there are very strict rules about how they should act. I've seen a video where a policeman enters someone's house on grounds of weed or w/e can't remember, and the guy had a knife in his hand he was in the kitchen and the policeman shot him dead. It was recorded with the policeman's cam.
Over here, the police(and even army) are obliged by law to shot something like 3 to 6 shots in the air as a warning, and yelling "stop or I'll shoot", before finally killing someone who had a weapon or posed a direct threat against someone else.
In cases they're up against someone unarmed, they use paralising sprays/pepper sprays or whatever.
Dunno why the civil security policy is so different.

The problem with warning shots is that they have a chance to injure or kill the unlucky pedestrians which manage be hit by them.
As for the shouting/spraying/tasers, our cops generally do the same until it's perceived that someone's life is in immediate danger.

they probably still manage a lower police fatality rate
I'm sure it would have been so difficult for this guy to just lay on the ground.

I gotta fight the freakin' police state, okay?!?

haha, fuck the system, LOL!
yeah guys the police should just whip their guns out willy nilly because who cares! its not like the police ever kill anyone for no reason or anything
Seriously the american police rely far too much on guns to get people to do as they say. This video is proof that when someone doesn't the police don't know what to do.

We don't even know the full story, someone refusing a cops orders is very suspicious and should be treated that way.

There are some good ones. When my house had been warranted the sheriff could have easily ransacked the entire house, but he kept the deputies and otherwise at bay after we showed respect towards him, and confined them only to the room of the person they were there for, when they could have searched the entire house.
sheriffs look horribly untrained in every video i see of them
If the suspect decided to get back up and pull a gun the moron with the camera was in the firing line of the officer. The cop was trying to protect him if anything happened to go down when attempting the arrest. Not complying and arguing isn't going to solve anything either, it's going to create tension and cause the officer to take extra precautions into consideration, which are avoidable and unnecessary. This is an excellent example of what not to do if you're caught up near an arrest, don't ever be this guy. Cops need to be heavy handed, otherwise they get killed or innocent people get hurt in the process.

You have never seen the shit that American cops put up with on a regular basis then do you. For all you know the suspect was armed and wanted for murder and the idiot with the camera just wanted to pick a fight with authority because he's got some fucked up persecution complex.
Here's a great quote that fits this situation perfectly, and it's straight from Wikipedia.
The central belief of every moron is that he is the victim of a mysterious conspiracy against his common rights and true deserts. He ascribes all his failure to get on in the world, all of his congenital incapacity and damfoolishness, to the machinations of werewolves assembled in Wall Street, or some other such den of infamy.
This den of infamy for him in this case is the police and their desire to do nothing more than harass regular people and take advantage of their position of authority. It's time people grew up and took a look at the whole picture, they're here to do a service which primarily puts them in harms way. Why should they care about hurting your feelings by commanding you to do something, when it's in your best interest? It's like ignoring your parents warnings of running around the pool, and then inevitably smacking your skull against concrete. You were warned, and the consequences came when you never took them into consideration. They do their job very well, it's just the job they do is clouded and masked by all the bullshit that happens in small pockets of the US and in very small numbers of events. Maybe if you stop focusing on the negatives, you'll start to notice more of the positives. The cops bagged a guy who ran my friend over a few weeks ago, and without them the guy never would've been caught. It's all about perspective, and how you wish to interpret the story.
yes that age old protection method of pointing a gun at an unarmed person

Cooperate and a cop won't have to pull a gun on you. It's ridiculous to expect a cop to put his gun away just because the guy he is pointing it at says he doesn't have a gun.
It's also important to bear in mind that there isn't any context for this video, so we don't know why the gun was pulled in the first place.
There is also the fact that you can't clearly see what kind of "gun" the officer is holding, and it looks like it could easily be a taser to me.
This is the problem with these kinds of videos. People like to think they have the entire picture, but there is a lot of data that we aren't getting from the video alone. I'd wait for a news article before passing any sort of judgment either way.

Stop guessing, he hadn't even been searched for weapons.
The guy is an idiot. They were stopped at a green light. They didn't know what was going on, I mean, drawing a gun on them is .. stupid, but I understand why.
Just comply, and take it to court if you have reason to believe there was unnecessary force.

Does not complying result in a fine or anything? It certainly should

this is the mentality that irks me about a lot of american police, treating everyone as if they could kill you at any moment and pulling a gun at the slightest thing
thats the difference between america and most other countries; if someone acts suspicious in the former they get guns pulled on them, if someone acts suspicious in the latter the police just keep their distance. its about treating people like people and not potential supervillains.
i guess its because guns are readily available over there, paired with a general contempt for the police from a fair percentage of the population

You don't know what strangers will do. They could pull a knife or gun on you and kill you in a moment's notice if you confront them. Chances are they won't, but that's a mistake that can cost your life.
Should just have shot him for not following an order imo.

easier said then done, i've tried fighting them in court, the whole situation was i had to walk around a bush to be able to walk on the side walk, the downside was i had to step into the bicycle lane. Sure enough a cop pulled up and ticketed me for walking in the middle of the roadway, and for some reason was summoned into court for it, i pleaded not guilty twice because the definition on what happened was completely incorrect, Needless to say i lost both times and was required to pay that stupid ass fine. Not to mention i ended up with the one asshole cop that decided to throw racial statements during the confrontation because i was white and he was hispanic while i complied to the detainment and was cooperative with him. Now i know not all cops are bad and this one was just a bad apple. I've been stopped before with my raptor blade that was longer than city ordinance allowed but the cop was nice enough to allow me to keep it walk off. SAPD has some bad apples but there are the good ones in the batch.

Why do you walk around public with a huge knife anyways?
He has a point, if you can just point a gun at a bystander recording something, what's the point of having the right to record officers?
