• Snowy weather car blues

My car is a 1986 Toyota MR2. I was trying to get my car out of the snow at the time. When I thought my tires were spinning in the snow to try and get unstuck going in reverse (clutch all the way up) there was a whine/grinding sound coming from somewhere (I think behind me. the engine is in the back.) It was making the sound for about 5-10 until I stopped trying to move. It turned out my tires were not spinning. What was the whine/grinding sound? And how much damage was done?
Might have been the clutch grinding. Get someone to do what you were doing, take a pole (like a broom stick), put it up to your ear, and move it around to see if you can find the problem.
The clutch was all the way up in gear with the tires not spinning and the car did not stall while making the sound. Do you think any serious damage was done to the clutch or transmission? I need it to last until I can afford another car.
Probably came from the transmission, in which case bad things might have happened. Wait until the snow melts or you can dig the car out, and see if it still drives without the noise.
Nice car btw

However I have not driven it on the road yet.
It's probably the clutch. Try to move the car with the parking brake on. If it moves the clutch should be alright, if it doesn't move although the clutch is all the way up and the engine is not stalling the clutch might not be gripping properly anymore. Saw that shit on TV once.
