The maintenance guy in the hotel I was working in found this and he gave it to me because I told him I was kinda good with computers. I've never seen this laptop before, though. I looked it up and it says that when it was out, it costed over $1500! So I really want to crack this thing and check it out. I already looked up a tutorial on how to change the password but I just wanted your guys' insight on this machine. I just don't know if I have to also replace the SSD? You guys got anything?

Thank you but I won't mark this as solved until I try it after work today. [editline]18th November 2013[/editline] I also wanted to know if any of you have had this laptop before..
i have a very similar thinkpad t61p that i'm using right now
I personally have the T500 and the X61s, and the T500 is amazing, and I guess the T400 is similar but with a smaller screen.

I've not pushed it too far but I use it for photo editing, playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. so in for my uses its amazing and rather well built for a laptop
holy shit you ran stalker on a laptop
If I were you, I'd not even attempt to open it. Wait till someone gives the hotel a call about a lost machine because who knows what might be on it. I know it's tempting but it does belong to someone.
Like amazing how? What can it do?
Use it in the ISS for one.

Apparently the last person who had it set a supervisor password and I need to know how to get past that.
Some videos link me to this tool: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004G2F6H0/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B004G2F6H0&linkCode=as2&tag=mr342chan-20 But none of them show me how to use it.
Is this something that backtrack could do? I don't know but I thought it was worth mentioning, maybe one of the gurus can confirm?
Normally devices like these use TPM, Trusted Platform Modules. They're really used in corporate or business environments and they're there for that reason. It's possible to reset the thing though, but it does involve dismantling the entire thing and risk shorting everything else.
