Twitter will also act for trademark owners if it suspects someone is "squatting" on a handle to cash in. It is not clear if Netflix owns a trademark on Qwikster and if it can use this avenue to secure the name.
That is probably what is going to happen. The guy who is trying to "make bank" will probably end up losing the handle and get brushed aside.
Watch the rights to the user name being Twitter's ... who'll give it straight to Netflix especially because of how arrogant the guy's being.
Or what you do is just name the account "Qwikster DvDs" or "Qwikster Rentals" or "QwikDvd" or whatever. Guy has zero bargaining power.
What if Microsoft wanted a twitter account called Microsoft but someone beat them to it? You think they'll settle for Microsofter, or Msoft? Hell no. Netflix will have no problem throwing this guy a few grand for the account, if he wants a ridiculous amount of money then I'm sure Twitter will just give the shit to Netflix

Because from a search engine perspective and a marketing perspective it's a big "no-no". The company name is Qwikster, and when people will go to search for it, they won't search for anything other than Qwikster. It's a huge potential for people to go to the wrong twitter and become confused, which could lead to Netflix losing some money.
It's actually a pretty big deal.
If I was him I would ask for $5000 and life long subscription to Netflix and Qwikster.
