"Last week when we paid civil servants there was $217 (left) in government coffers," Biti told journalists in the capital Harare, claiming some of them had healthier bank balances than the state. "The government finances are in paralysis state at the present moment. We are failing to meet our targets."
Aren't they doing better than america who are like trillions of dollars in debt? at least they have positive money :v:
Do they not have any national debt?
I have decided to donate to Zimbabwe in their time of need.

That is over 16 trillion more than America.
They have $7.7 billion of debt
oh well pfffshttt
I don't think you understand my understandings. :tinfoil:
it was a cheep joke at America's debt, not an analysis of Zimbabwe's finances.
mugabe just started printing money until the mints ran out of paper, and by that time the money was worth less than the paper used to make it for reference, the current exchange rate is 361900 Zimbabwean Dollars to 1 US Dollar.
They're still richer than me
Wait, is that $217 Zimbabwe dollars? Because holy shit, going by that exchange rate above, that's fucking nothing.
Wait, is that $217 Zimbabwe dollars? Because holy shit, going by that exchange rate above, that's fucking nothing.
Nah those are all US dollars

more than they deserve
I'm richer than the Zimbabwean government, now that's a nice conversation piece.
My great grandparents worked hard until they were 72, becoming multimillionaires in that country just to have the exchange rate make it all worth nothing again. It's a little sad how badly some countries do after becoming independent from Britain.

Don't they use Euros though?
Don't they use Euros though?
Government: Mostly dollars Everyone else: All money they can get there hands on. If only Rhodesia still existed.
I have one of those.
thanks for telling me you have a few million dollars.
thanks for telling me you have a few million dollars.
Too bad it's only worth about 40 cents.
I have more money than that in my savings But I have to pay my civil workers soon so that might change
I don't think you guys understand how countries work..
Very few people on FP do, but that never stops them running their mouths about it. :v: Aren't Zimbabweans some of the happiest-with-their-situation people on earth? I remember reading about it somewhere.
Too bad it's only worth about 40 cents.
I could've sworn those bills were de-commissioned after the currency stabilized a little more because they were worth an obscene amount of money at that time. If not, he's got a good 280 million dollars according to the exchange rate above.
