LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) - Emergency dispatchers received reports of a possible tornado in Longview on Thursday afternoon.
http://www.kptv.com/story/26877285/possible-funnel-cloud-tornado-reported-in-longview?autostart=true Stay safe my friends of the NW.
are tornados rare up there?
They're really uncommon because there's so little "ideal" space for them to form between the ocean and the mountains. We did have a pretty nasty storm blow through last night and through today though. It probably formed out of the extremely unstable atmosphere.
Tornadoes are uncommon here in Washington, but we do have them. I live in the south-eastern part of Washington where the ground is flat and there's no trees. Recently we had a small tornado I believe. A lot of rain where I am, but nothing too bad.
weathers been really weird here in washington recently. 80 degree days in october is not normal, at least it isn't west of the mountains
The FPers in range of that cloud funnel better hold onto their butts.

I should probably consider moving, because tornadoes are so common here in Missouri that my only thought on reading the title was, "why is this even news?"
